Aerial ladder trucks cannot reach the required height, and aerial work platforms are unable to access the site: Changkong Power uses a 650-kilogram ducted drone equipped with "tethered water and power supply" to raise the fire-fighting operation area to a height of 100 meters.
When a fire breaks out on the exterior wall of a 100-meter-tall high-rise building, the fire water monitors on the ground cannot contain the fire, and aerial platform vehicles cannot be deployed due to the limitations of their booms and site conditions, leaving firefighters no choice but to launch internal attacks — this is the realistic situation faced by fire departments in many cities across China when fighting fires in super high-rise buildings. Zhejiang Skydynamix Technology Co., Ltd. is trying to use a pure electric ducted drone weighing several hundred kilograms to lift the fire-fighting operation surface from the ground to a height of 100 meters. The company has recently launched a new round of financing, and the funds will be used for the finalization, mass production and scenario implementation of its large-load ducted drone products.
Equipment Gap at 100 Meters Altitude
High-rise building fire fighting is widely recognized by the industry as a worldwide rescue challenge. Public data from the National Fire and Rescue Administration shows that there are more than 1 million high-rise civil buildings in China, including over 5,000 super high-rise buildings with a height of more than 100 meters, both ranking first in the world. Correspondingly, the number of high-rise building fires across the country in the first 8 months of 2024 reached 36,000, exceeding the total for the whole year of 2023.
The gap between equipment capacity and building height has long existed. At present, most of the ladder trucks equipped in ordinary domestic cities have an operation height of about 50 meters, which is equivalent to the height of about 15 floors; even the highest 101-meter aerial platform fire truck in China can only cover about 35 floors. In addition, such equipment is expensive and requires hundreds of square meters of space to deploy, making it impossible to pass through old residential areas and narrow streets in most cases. When a fire occurs at a height above 100 meters, outdoor high-altitude rescue is basically powerless, and the disposal relies more on fixed fire-fighting facilities inside the building and firefighters' internal attacks, while some high-rise buildings built in earlier years have problems such as aging fire-fighting facilities and insufficient water pressure.
Policy makers have sent clear signals at the policy level. In September 2023, five departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued the Action Plan for the Development of Key Areas of Safety and Emergency Equipment (2023-2025), listing special fire rescue equipment and unmanned fire-fighting equipment for special scenarios such as high-rise buildings, large complexes, and underground spaces as key development directions. In 2026, high-rise fire-fighting drones were classified as an independent equipment category alongside fire trucks and fire boats, and included in the ranks of standardized main battle equipment. However, from policy orientation to practical combat equipment, there are still several engineering thresholds such as wind resistance stability, load capacity, battery life, and vehicle-mounted deployment passability.
Extending the Water Supply Pipeline to the Air
The technical route chosen by Skydynamix is ducted fan plus tethered liquid supply and power supply. The company's main product is the CK-6H-650 large-load pure electric ducted drone. Public product data shows that the drone has a take-off weight of 650 kg and a maximum load of 300 kg, which can realize water spraying operations at a height of more than 100 meters, and supports two working modes: tethered flight and free flight. The power system adopts the company's self-developed D105L ducted fan, the whole machine structure is made of carbon fiber material to achieve lightweight, and it is equipped with a high-performance flight control computer.
This solution is fundamentally different from the common multi-rotor fire-fighting drones in terms of operation logic. Limited by battery capacity, traditional multi-rotor models have a short air retention time after being fully loaded with fire extinguishing agents, and mostly undertake the role of one-time delivery or reconnaissance assistance. The design idea of CK-6H-650 is to connect the drone to the ground fire-fighting system: the drone is carried by a fire truck, and after arriving at the scene, it obtains continuous water supply through the tethered pipeline, and at the same time obtains continuous power through the tethered cable, making the aircraft an extension node of the ground water supply system in the air. Theoretically, it can support continuous water spraying operations for several hours, instead of releasing the load at one time after taking off and then returning.
The closed ducted structure is the core judgment for Skydynamix to choose this route. The company's team believes that the duct wraps the blades inside the annular structure, which on the one hand can reduce the risk of blade cutting and operation noise, and on the other hand, the constraint effect of the duct wall on the airflow helps to improve the crosswind resistance, and reduce the interference of hot airflow from the fire scene and turbulence between buildings on the flight attitude. In addition, the company has designed a modular quick-release interface for the product, which can be equipped with horizontal launch fire extinguishing devices, throw-type fire extinguishing devices and material transportation and delivery devices according to mission requirements, covering scenarios such as high-rise building fire extinguishing, window breaking, forest fire extinguishing and emergency rescue delivery.
Composite Materials and Production Lines Are Built Simultaneously
The engineering difficulties of large-load drones lie not only in flight control and power, but also in structural weight. Another technical accumulation of Skydynamix is concentrated in the field of aerospace composite materials. In September 2025, the company won the second prize in the growth group with the project of "Industrialization of Advanced Aerospace Structure-Function Integrated Composite Materials" in the "Tide Rises in the East · Win in Haining" Entrepreneurship Competition in Haining. The project focuses on the application of long continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic materials in drone structures. The mechanical properties of such materials are close to the level of aluminum alloy, and at the same time, they are more suitable for automated production processes, which have direct significance for the weight reduction of the whole machine and large-scale cost reduction.
In terms of intellectual property layout, as of September 2026, Skydynamix has owned 24 patents, covering directions such as motor components for ducted fans, ducted fan folding mechanisms, ducted drone landing gear structures, unattended drone hangars, tethered drone high-pressure air cooling systems, and large-size thermoplastic composite material welding equipment. In 2025, the company was rated as a national-level high-tech enterprise; in 2026, it won the Science and Technology Award of the national Simulation Society.
The production base has been settled in Yanguan, Haining. In early 2025, Skydynamix settled in the Hardware Industrial Park of Yanguan Town, and established a manufacturing and testing center in a renovated 3,000-square-meter workshop. Information released by the Haining Municipal Government in August 2025 shows that the company had signed two orders at that time to provide fully automatic unattended inspection platforms for local and out-of-province customers. The compound wing drones carried are mainly used in the field of traffic inspection, with expected sales of more than 15 million yuan by the end of 2025. The base also produces drone accessories, and plans to update production equipment adopting thermoplastic long fiber composite material technology to improve mass production efficiency. Bidding information shows that in 2025, the company won bids for projects such as the industrial construction project of the Yanguan Town Low-altitude Economy Comprehensive Service Base, with a total winning amount of 4.797 million yuan for the whole year.
Moving from the Verification Stage to Delivery Validation
Skydynamix was founded in March 2022 with a registered capital of 10.5263 million yuan, and its legal representative is Kang Kai. The company is formed by a team of doctors from scientific research institutions such as the Wide Range Flight Center of the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. Its technical background covers aerodynamics, structural mechanics, non-metallic material science and composite material forming processes, with about 15 employees. Tang Fei, the technical director, once stated in a public interview that the company has completed the verification of the technical route maturity and market potential of ducted fans, and the next stage will focus on further reducing the fuselage weight and enhancing the product's adaptability in harsh environments.
Product iteration is still ongoing. According to local media reports in November 2025, the company's new ducted fire-fighting drone has a more compact volume, a significantly reduced self-weight, and an effective take-off weight increased to 600 kg, which can take off with a load of 250 kg. The fuselage structure has become stable after several rounds of iterations. The company participated in the 2025 China Emergency Expo with the CK-6H-650, taking high-rise building fire fighting as the main display scenario.
In addition to the main fire-fighting business, Skydynamix's fully automatic unattended inspection platform has taken the lead in realizing small-batch delivery, which is applied in fields such as traffic inspection, providing the company with early revenue and operation foundation for the production line. The fire-fighting drone product is currently in the stage of transformation from technical verification to delivery verification. The company plans to promote the production line to large-scale production after the process is mature, and the logistics heavy-lift drone is also included in the subsequent product development plan.
The superposition of the two policy main lines of low-altitude economy and emergency equipment is creating a time window for large-load industrial drones. For Skydynamix, the core purpose of this round of financing is to complete the finalization, mass production and fire scenario implementation of its main products — from stable flight on the test field to listable equipment in the procurement list of fire departments, there are still links such as reliability verification, standard docking and mass delivery capacity building to go through. Whether the project can complete this process depends on the performance of the product in the real fire scene, and whether the production line can support the cost and quality requirements of large-scale delivery.
