Field Test of Qwen Office E-commerce Edition: Completed Store Preparation in 3 Hours, But Stumbled on "Image Generation Hallucinations"
Can a person who has never engaged in e-commerce run an online store with the E-commerce Edition of Qianwen Office?
Last month, Qianwen Office officially released its E-commerce Edition, positioned as an "independent third-party e-commerce Agent", which is open to merchants on all e-commerce platforms. According to the official introduction, this version has launched functions such as cross-platform operation dashboard, trend insight, and batch material generation, and has been connected to mainstream merchant tools such as Business Advisor, Youzan, and Qianniu.
For e-commerce veterans who are familiar with platform rules and already have supply sources on hand, this can be a powerful tool to speed up preparation. For example, Liu Xianglong, a women's shoe merchant with ten years of experience, used this version to open a new 3D-printed shoe store, shortening the cycle from the traditional 30 to 45 days to 7 days, and reducing the cost to a few hundred yuan in Token fees.
However, for people who open an online store for the first time, the situation may be completely different. Selecting a platform, determining the category, and preparing qualification materials, these processes that old merchants are familiar with are all thresholds that novices need to explore one by one.
To verify the universality of the E-commerce Edition of Qianwen Office for real novices, 「Future Tech Circle」took an independently written industry research report as the proposed product for sale, tried to go through the whole process of store opening preparation, and recorded which links can be handed over to AI, which still require manual work, as well as the actual time and cost spent.
Actual measurement results: Information work is comprehensively improved in efficiency, but core links still require manual check
We decomposed the store opening preparation into seven core links: market research, pricing calculation, store name preparation, material generation, stock preparation plan, listing list and customer service scripts, all of which were processed by Qianwen Office and timed item by item, and compared with the traditional time consumption of independent operation by novices. The test results are as follows:
In this actual measurement, an editor without e-commerce experience completed the store opening preparation with the help of the E-commerce Edition of Qianwen Office, and the whole process took about 3 hours. This time includes the time for preliminary preparation, material sorting, and item-by-item verification and modification of AI outputs. Among them, the total output time of Qianwen Office in the seven links is about 30 minutes, and the Token fee is equivalent to about 47 RMB.
Market research is an item with a significant difference in time consumption. Traditional novices usually spend 1 to 2 days on market research by browsing platforms, recording competitor prices and comparing selling points, while Qianwen Office only takes 8 minutes and 48 seconds, but the output results are relatively basic; if product materials are outsourced traditionally, the cycle takes 3 to 5 days and the cost is at the thousand-yuan level, while Qianwen Office generated 19 images (including main images, detail pages and store decoration images) within 15 minutes, with a cost of about 33.75 RMB.
As for links such as store decoration, stock preparation plan, listing list and customer service scripts, the traditional practice takes half a day to one day, and the output time of Qianwen Office is all controlled within 2 minutes.
In addition to its high speed, Qianwen E-commerce also has a rich self-contained e-commerce related knowledge base. For example, in the link of generating the listing list, novices who do not understand "listing list" or "Qianniu backend" can ask questions directly, and Qianwen Office will also give conceptual explanations in the output process, clarify the role of the list in the publishing process, and then generate an Excel table containing product publishing information, logistics and after-sales parameters, and pre-publishing check list, which is detailed enough for item-by-item filling in the backend.
In the customer service link, we only stated that it was our first time to open a store, and explained that the delivery methods of research reports in different months are different, for example, a certain issue only provides electronic version. Based on this, Qianwen Office generated FAQs, pre-sales and after-sales scripts, quick phrases and automatic replies, and also wrote this delivery exception into the customer-oriented scripts and the internal precautions for customer service staff.
Image material is one of the links with the highest efficiency improvement and the most concentrated finished product problems in this actual measurement. We provided several real product photos and screenshots of the inner pages of the research report, and Qianwen Office generated 19 images within 15 minutes, covering 1:1 main images, 3:4 detail pages and store banners, costing about 33.75 RMB, which exceeds the sum of the costs of the other six links. According to the original estimate, if similar visual materials are handed over to an outsourcing team for production, the cycle is about 3 to 5 days, and the cost is at the thousand-yuan level.
Without specifying the size one by one, Qianwen Office automatically matched the image proportions commonly used in Taobao stores, and adjusted the color scheme as required. The selling point labels on the main image, the titles and image frames on the detail page are all arranged, and the layout has the basis for further modification.
Although the typesetting logic is mature, there are still obvious errors in text rendering. It miswrote the producer "Yilan Business x Tea Coffee Observation" on the real photo as "Tea Coffee Observation x Tea Coffee Vision", and recreated the data of the inner page screenshot with AI hallucinations. For a research report that takes data rigorously as its selling point, wrong brand names and disordered data not only cannot pass the review, but will also directly damage the professional reputation of the product.
Therefore, the 15-minute image generation time cannot cover manual review and modification. In the e-commerce visual link, AI solves the problem of layout and specifications from scratch, but the final accuracy of text and data still requires manual check.
In addition to image generation, AI also has limitations in the depth of commercial analysis.
The market research and stock preparation calculation framework produced by Qianwen Office is complete, and it independently sorts out competitor stratification, pricing bands and break-even points. But when it comes to specific data, it is still a coarse-grained summary. The competitor inventory only lists rough gears such as 9.9-yuan data compilation and 649-yuan platform membership, without providing specific benchmark accounts and sales references.
At the same time, it still cannot replace the final guarantee of human beings. From registration and real-name authentication, category qualification application to backend publishing and real performance, these links involving administration, law and specific operations cannot be handled on behalf of others by AI, nor can AI take responsibility. AI can greatly reduce the trial and error cost during the preparation period, but the final compliance review and business decision-making of opening a store still require manual check.
Product Trends: The underlying logic of Qianwen Office's entry into e-commerce
Overall, the E-commerce Edition of Qianwen Office has indeed fulfilled the promise of efficiency improvement, which not only greatly reduces the time consumption and cost in a single scenario, but also converges the information link into the same dialogue flow.
This also makes e-commerce an entry point for Qianwen Office to explore industry-specific versions. The store opening preparation has a completion point, but the tasks in operation continue to occur. If the product can participate in these high-frequency tasks, it will have the opportunity to obtain more stable usage and payment.
Judging from the performance of existing users, the payment demand of e-commerce practitioners is indeed the most clear and concentrated. According to Chen Yusen's disclosure, about 20% of the paying users of Qianwen Office come from the e-commerce industry, and these users complete 38 tasks on average every week, with higher usage depth and payment rate than the average level. This shows that a group of merchants have been continuously using Qianwen Office to handle their work. The launch of the E-commerce Edition can improve functions around their specific needs, and also provide a direction for Qianwen Office to find differentiation beyond its general office capabilities.
Going a step further, cross-platform operation is also a scenario worthy of in-depth cultivation. Merchants who run multiple stores at the same time need to check the sales, inventory and delivery performance separately, then summarize the data and arrange subsequent actions. Qianwen Office positions the E-commerce Edition as an "independent third-party e-commerce Agent", trying to undertake these tasks through one entry. The scope of access to platforms, the timeliness of data updates, and whether the indicators of different platforms can be accurately matched will all affect the actual value of this entry.
Alibaba's accumulated merchant tools and service experience in the e-commerce field provide starting conditions for Qianwen Office. Chen Yusen emphasized that for AI to understand business, it needs to combine the merchant's operation data and historical documents. For the industry-specific version, mastering e-commerce knowledge is only the foundation. Further access to data such as sales volume, inventory and cost authorized by merchants can provide conditions for giving analysis close to specific stores. This also means that the product needs to continue to invest in tool access, data processing and business understanding.
According to the official plan, the E-commerce Edition will next explore "active operation", where the Agent actively discovers abnormalities such as inventory and delivery, and assists in handling them within the authorized scope. At that time, merchants' evaluation of it will be implemented into more specific business results. Whether an inventory reminder can avoid stock shortage, whether a delivery suggestion can reduce invalid expenditure, and whether the time saved by continuous use can cover the cost, will all affect whether merchants are willing to continue paying.
