In the gold rush of embodied intelligence, Huayan Robotics chooses to develop a general-purpose physical base for robots.
In Shanghai in October, the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) was brimming with crowds. Humanoid robots walked in formation, embodied intelligence large models were demonstrated on site, and complete machine manufacturers placed their latest products in the most prominent positions. This is the most authentic portrayal of China's current robotics industry: all the spotlights are focused on the "human-like" feature.
But at the booth of Huayan Robotics, Chairman Wang Guangneng talked most about not being "human-like", but "base", "joint" and "arm". This robotics company, which was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in March this year, made its first large-scale appearance at the CIIF after going public, bringing not another complete humanoid machine, but a set of embodied intelligent motion bases. While the whole industry is rushing to the end terminals, why did Huayan Robotics choose to develop the general-purpose physical base for robots in the embodied intelligence era?
What is more thought-provoking is a sentence from Wang Guangneng in the interview: "All in the world are friends, no enemies." In an industry where everyone is scrambling for tracks, labels and end customers, this attitude seems somewhat alternative. But it is precisely this alternative that may hide the most realistic industrial logic of embodied intelligence industrialization: when everyone is panning for gold, the shovel sellers are more scarce.
Brilliant highlights at CIIF: Concentrated display of Huayan's latest achievements
The booth of Huayan Robotics at this year's CIIF can be summarized in four words: focus on the base.
On the first day of CIIF, Wang Guangneng released the "embodied intelligent motion base". This is a physical base built by Huayan Robotics for partners in the fields of embodied intelligence and other sectors based on its own software and hardware capabilities and industrial experience. Its core direction is to build a "general base in the robot world" — using a set of standardized, modular and open general bases to accelerate the advancement of embodied intelligence into real industrial scenarios.
Wang Guangneng made it very clear at the release site: embodied intelligence requires not only a smart "brain", but also a powerful and reliable physical ontology. Based on more than 20 years of accumulated industrial experience, Huayan Robotics extends from the underlying motors, servo drives, motion control algorithms to the collaborative robot ontology and core motion components of embodied intelligence. In the three dimensions of core motion components, ontology manufacturing and embodied intelligence, it provides the industry with a complete embodied intelligent base ranging from "power core" to "execution terminal". Displayed simultaneously with the embodied intelligent motion base is the comprehensive performance upgrade of Huayan Robotics' collaborative robot ontology. Huayan Robotics has carried out systematic iterations from the module structure, reducer, encoder, motor, brake to drive algorithm and motion compensation algorithm, bringing the collaborative optimization of core components and complete machine control to a new level.
In terms of speed, the overall joint speed is increased by 20% to 150%, with a maximum of 360°/s, and the end TCP linear speed is increased by 20% to 50%, with a maximum of 4.5m/s, which creates greater beat space for high-frequency attitude adjustment scenarios such as loading and unloading and handling. In terms of braking, it is equipped with the self-developed new-generation Meta motor, which further improves power density and overload capacity on the premise of ensuring heat dissipation reliability, and realizes a shorter braking distance by combining the optimization of module structure and drive control. In terms of accuracy, the repeated positioning accuracy under full load test reaches 0.0109mm, the absolute positioning accuracy reaches 0.145mm, and the linear trajectory accuracy reaches 0.289mm, which provides more stable processing results for applications with high trajectory quality requirements such as precision assembly and precision machining. In terms of stability, the minimum operating noise of the complete machine can reach 55dB in actual measurement, which is better adapted to noise-sensitive scenarios such as medical laboratories and university laboratories.
These upgrades are not a parameter show of end complete machine brands, but a concentrated display of the capabilities of core components and ontology control. For partners, this means that what they get is not a concept, but an ontology with reliable performance, stable accuracy and suitable for real production lines.
It is worth mentioning that Huayan Robotics also released the new upgraded integrated 2.5D vision collaborative robot. It further opens up the complete link from visual perception to robot execution: 2.5D vision → automatic focusing → AI recognition → HRC motion control → precise execution. This solution supports full-plane calibration, which makes visual positioning change from local "point accuracy" to "surface accuracy" of the entire working area; by acquiring target spatial information through 2.5D vision and combining with the HRC motion control platform, it guides the robot to complete 6-dimensional pose adjustment of X/Y/Z+Rx/Ry/Rz, effectively dealing with workpiece position offset and attitude change. At the same time, capabilities such as automatic focusing, AI recognition, AI defect detection, multi-light source configuration, rapid solution migration and drag-and-drop deployment further reduce the deployment threshold of complex industrial scenarios.
What Huayan Robotics is doing is not a single vision product, but an "embodied execution platform" that integrates vision, motion control and ontology execution.
In addition, Huayan Robotics and its partners have jointly created a number of practical landing applications, including Huayan Robotics collaborative robot + intelligent 3D scanning inspection, CNC machine tool loading and unloading, intelligent welding, etc. The division of labor is very clear: Huayan Robotics provides high-performance, high-stability robot ontology and core motion components, and partners contribute vision applications, scenario know-how and customer channels. The two parties work together to make embodied intelligence truly create value at the industrial site.
The most notable thing at CIIF is not how many new products Huayan Robotics has released, but that it has focused on bases, ontologies, joints, arms and motion control. In the wave of humanoid robots, complete machine brands are in the most bustling position, but Huayan Robotics has chosen to be the execution layer infrastructure. This is not modesty, but to focus resources on the core components and physical bases of embodied intelligence.
View the ecological niche of Huayan Robotics from CIIF highlights: to be the "execution layer infrastructure" of embodied intelligence
Putting the latest products released at CIIF together, the intention of Huayan Robotics is clear.
The release of the embodied intelligent motion base is Huayan Robotics' public statement on industrial division of labor. Wang Guangneng said that Huayan Robotics aims to be the "general base in the robot world", and use standardized, modular and open general bases to create physical bases for partners in the fields of embodied intelligence and other sectors. Relying on the collaborative model of "high-performance ontology + modular cerebellum + open ecology", Huayan defines the underlying capabilities of the robot "body".
However, positioning alone is not enough, there must be capabilities to support the positioning. The comprehensive performance upgrade of the collaborative robot ontology is the proof presented by Huayan Robotics. The overall improvement of indicators such as joint speed, TCP linear speed, repeated positioning accuracy, absolute positioning accuracy, linear trajectory accuracy and operating noise shows that Huayan Robotics' full-stack self-developed capability has been transformed into a deliverable, mass-producible and reusable ontology capability. What partners get is not a concept, but an ontology with reliable performance, stable accuracy and suitable for real production lines. The premise that the base can be called by ecological partners is that it is strong enough itself.
The 2.5D vision collaborative robot further lowers the threshold. Opening up the complete link from visual perception to robot execution, supporting full-plane calibration, automatic focusing, AI recognition, AI defect detection, rapid solution migration and drag-and-drop deployment — these capabilities point to the same goal: to make it easier for partners to integrate in complex industrial scenarios, deploy faster and require less secondary development. The easier Huayan Robotics' base capabilities are to be called, the more willing ecological partners will be to develop scenarios on it.
The large-scale industrial application capability proves that this model has been successfully verified. Joint applications such as intelligent 3D scanning inspection, CNC machine tool loading and unloading, and intelligent welding are not ecological visions, but ongoing industrial collaborations. Huayan Robotics provides ontologies and components, partners provide scenarios and channels, and both parties give full play to their respective strengths.
The embodied intelligence industry chain is being stratified: brain/algorithm, complete machine/brand, execution layer/physical base, scenario/integration. Huayan Robotics has chosen to be a "water seller" and "base", seizing the key link of large-scale implementation. At this CIIF, Huayan Robotics can be said to have strengthened this positioning from four levels: strategic declaration, capability proof, threshold reduction and model verification. It does not compete for the business of complete machines or integration, but deeply refines the execution layer infrastructure, allowing partners to run more scenarios on its base.
Industrial logic and future of this choice: accelerate the large-scale implementation of embodied intelligence with open base and ecological cooperation
In Wang Guangneng's view, the number of embodied intelligent robots in the future will be calculated in hundreds of millions, and no company can cover the whole market. Large model companies make the "brain", Huayan Robotics supplies the "cerebellum" and ontology, and integrators develop scenarios and channels — only by performing their respective duties can the wave develop faster. The applications of intelligent 3D scanning inspection, CNC machine tool loading and unloading, and intelligent welding displayed by Huayan Robotics in cooperation with partners at CIIF are landing samples of this division of labor.
What supports this division of labor is Huayan Robotics' full-stack self-developed capability. Starting from motors, servo drives and motion control algorithms, Huayan Robotics has obtained the "design freedom" mentioned by Wang Guangneng — it can define accuracy, speed, load and arm span to form differentiation. The capabilities of speed, accuracy, stability and integrated visual execution displayed at CIIF are the external manifestation of this design freedom. Partners can integrate, develop scenarios and build terminals on this basis, without groping from the underlying components.
Going public provides the confidence of long-termism for this logic. The listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in March this year brought capital, brand, talents and internationalization opportunities. Wang Guangneng said that after going public, the standards are improved and the confidence is stronger. This year, Huayan Robotics has added more than 200 people, with postgraduates and doctors from top universities joining R&D, supply chain, production and sales. The funds support investment in embodied intelligence, AI large models, software and hardware platforms. These investments are to make the base more standardized, more open and more reliable. The CIIF theme "Strong Embodied Base, New Driving Force for Manufacturing" conveys exactly this signal.
The robotics industry is shifting from single product competition to ecological competition. Huayan Robotics uses an open base to exchange for partner scale, and uses full-stack self-development to exchange for design freedom and differentiation. The embodied intelligent motion base, performance upgrade, 2.5D vision and joint applications at CIIF are all phased answers to this strategy.
Huayan Robotics' choice is a sample of China's robotics industry shifting from assembly integration to full-stack self-development, and from single product competition to ecological division of labor. It bets that in the embodied intelligence era, infrastructure-type players are more scarce than complete machine brands.
Under the wave of embodied intelligence gold panning, Huayan Robotics has chosen to be the industry shovel seller and the underlying technology road builder, deeply cultivating the general physical base, and delivering a pragmatic and unique embodied answer.
