Air testing that "acts as both the referee and the player" with non-transparent data: this project uses glass partitions to build a nationwide chain of open laboratories, fully displaying the whole testing process to consumers.
I. Project Content
Build a nationwide chain of "open-type" indoor air testing laboratories. The adopted standard is GB /T18883-2022 Indoor Air Quality Standard, and the testing items cover ammonia, formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene.
II. Operation Mode
Recruit partners across the country to set up laboratories, and adopt the operation mode of self-service sampling or on-site service by employees, with 2 to 5 laboratories in each city.
Local partners are responsible for air sampling as well as the two testing items of ammonia and formaldehyde, and the laboratory area shall be around 20 square meters.
The head office is responsible for technical training for the two items of ammonia and formaldehyde, and undertakes the testing of the other 6 items: benzene, toluene, xylene, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene.
The revenue model of the project mainly relies on testing fees. The head office and local partners realize profit sharing through a reasonable dividend ratio. Local open laboratories can also carry out overall advertising sponsorship investment promotion, and the head office has additional revenue from website advertisements.
III. Market Competition
On June 1, 2026, the "One Order One Database" policy will be officially implemented. As an off-database item, indoor air testing reports will no longer be stamped with the CMA seal. Market competition will no longer focus on who has the qualification seal, but on who has stronger technical strength and better service quality.
In recent years, indoor air quality issues have attracted more and more attention. Traditional air testing institutions are not open to the public, and the testing data is not transparent enough to consumers. The core advantage of the project lies in its transparent testing process. Each laboratory is open to consumers through glass partitions, so that the whole testing process is completely visible, which greatly improves consumers' trust. By building a nationwide chain of laboratories, the project fills the market gap in the field of transparent testing services.
Testing indoor air in accordance with GB /T18883-2022 Indoor Air Quality Standard requires equipment investment of millions. If the market is limited to the local area, the market size will be too small.
IV. Industry Pain Points
Building such a nationwide chain "open-type" indoor air testing platform mainly solves several major pain points brought by traditional closed laboratories:
1. Break data silos, break the closed mode of traditional laboratories with an open innovation platform, and provide the public with transparent and credible air quality testing services.
2. Resolve the trust crisis to ensure fairness and transparency: There is a widespread conflict of interest in the industry that institutions "act as both referee and player" (conduct self-inspection and self-judgment). The open platform is conducive to public supervision, separates testing from pollution treatment, eliminates fraud, and rebuilds public credibility.
3. Break through geographical restrictions to achieve scale effect: A single laboratory has a small service radius and high operating cost, the expensive equipment has very low utilization rate. Teams in different regions repeatedly purchase testing instruments, causing serious capital waste. The chain layout can cover a wider area, reduce the cost of single test through unified scheduling and standardized services, and make professional testing more affordable and accessible to the public.
