With 4.85 million 5G base stations constructed and trillions of yuan invested in infrastructure, the existing facility reuse rate is less than 40%. This project will adopt firmware iteration to enable telecom operators to acquire 6G integrated sensing and communication capabilities with only one-tenth of the traditional investment amount.
Idle Stock 5G Assets, Operators Are in Urgent Need of Low-CapEx Evolution Path
The total number of domestic 5G base stations has exceeded 4.85 million, with cumulative infrastructure investment exceeding one trillion yuan. A large number of macro base stations and micro base stations deployed from 2020 to 2025 are still in the asset depreciation period. Most mainstream 6G solutions are based on the premise of building new base stations and installing additional optoelectronic hardware, with the reuse rate of existing equipment less than 40%. Operators are under pressure on capital expenditure, and local governments have tightened their budgets for new infrastructure. Scenarios such as campuses, industrial parks and smart cities have clear demands for upgrades that "do not replace poles, do not replace cabinets, and do not interrupt services". According to the CITIC Construction Investment Communications Research Report, the domestic 6G-related market size in 2026 is about 16.8 billion yuan, and it will exceed 120 billion yuan in 2030. However, there are almost no mature service providers for "smooth upgrading of existing facilities" at present. The team of the Stock 5G Full-domain Smooth Evolution to 6G Project judges that the core contradiction of government-enterprise communication transformation in the next three years is not whether to develop 6G, but how to obtain 6G integrated sensing and communication capabilities with the original 5G assets and about one-tenth of the investment.
Baseband Firmware Iteration Plus Collaborative Scheduling to Activate Integrated Sensing and Communication Remotely
This project does not add any new communication hardware, retains AAUs, antennas, poles, power supplies, machine rooms and optical fibers, and only enables the existing 5G base stations to activate the basic 6G integrated sensing and communication capabilities through baseband firmware iteration and distributed collaborative scheduling algorithms. Key capabilities include dynamic spectrum sharing, multi-station interference coordination, 5G and 6G services carried on the same hardware, and load coordination for energy saving. In the verification of 10 square kilometers of urban area or university campus, the reuse rate of existing 5G facilities reaches 94% to 100%, the firmware is pushed remotely in batches with zero hardware construction, and the full-domain coverage is completed in 45 to 65 days; the comprehensive investment is 14% to 19% of the new construction scheme, the overall network energy consumption is reduced by 7% to 14%, and existing terminals and IoT services are seamlessly compatible. The team encapsulates the system into two layers: the scheduling firmware for the evolution of existing 5G to 6G, which adapts to macro and micro base stations of mainstream domestic brands; the full-domain integrated sensing and communication enabling platform, which outputs interfaces for smart campuses, low-altitude security, crowd and environmental situation awareness. The commercial closed loop consists of one-time deployment fee, annual software license fee, energy-saving revenue sharing and external technology licensing. It will start with benchmark cases of universities and industrial parks, and then replicate to provincial operator branches and municipal state-owned assets.
12 Million Yuan Angel Round to Promote Pilots, Team Has Full-Link Delivery Background
The project has completed internal verification of core algorithms and scheduling firmware, is in the stage of multi-scenario index benchmarking, and is currently connecting two comprehensive universities and an industrial park in East China as the first-phase pilots. The team plans to raise 12 million yuan in the angel round, dilute 12% of equity, with a pre-money valuation of 88 million yuan and a capital cycle of 36 months. Among the funds, 4.8 million yuan will be invested in R&D and compatibility testing, 3.6 million yuan for benchmark projects and channels, 2.4 million yuan for recruiting communication algorithm and government-enterprise business talents, and 1.2 million yuan reserved as working capital. The core members have more than ten years of experience in mobile communication network optimization and base station scheduling algorithm R&D, are familiar with 5G air interface protocol, spectrum sharing and multi-base station coordination, have full-link operation capabilities from technical verification, scheme design to commercial delivery, and the business side covers operator procurement, university infrastructure approval and smart city project rules. In 2027, 2 to 3 benchmark areas will be implemented and a standardized delivery package will be formed. In 2028, it will expand to more than 10 projects and iterate Software 2.0. In 2029, it will enter the multi-province replication period, forming a dual cash flow of "project revenue plus annual software fee". This route does not directly compete with the new optoelectronic integration construction scheme. As a supplementary layer for stock revitalization, it conforms to the national policies of revitalizing existing new infrastructure, green low-carbon communication and 6G pilot first, and has space for continuous application for special topics and state-owned assets cooperation.
