With the continuous growth of personalized consumer demand, the traditional custom clothing model is facing new demands from emerging consumption scenarios. Consumers usually need to select products online, upload designs, and then wait for production and delivery; offline customization, on the other hand, often relies on manual services and physical stores, which comes with problems such as long waiting time, high operating costs, and limited consumption scenarios. For scenic spots, shopping malls, commercial streets, theme parks, exhibitions and various offline events, there is still a lack of solution for personalized clothing consumption that allows consumers to "design on site, produce on site, and pick up goods on site".
In response to this demand, an unattended self-service T-shirt printing vending machine is trying to combine personalized clothing customization with smart retail. The complete process from product selection, pattern design, order placement and payment to clothing printing and delivery is completed through automated equipment, transforming the traditional customization service that requires manual participation into self-service consumption.
At present, the project has completed the development of the prototype and software system, the core business process has been verified, and it has begun to carry out market promotion and customer expansion. The project is carrying out further optimization focusing on equipment stability, user experience and commercial operation mode, and plans to use angel round financing to promote small-batch production and market promotion.
From "Waiting for Customization" to "On-site Completion": Smart Devices Tap into Instant Personalized Consumption
The core product of this project is a set of smart devices that integrate self-service order placement, personalized design, DTG direct-to-garment printing and automatic delivery. Consumers do not need to rely on staff to complete design and order placement, they can directly enter the operation interface through the device screen, select the color, size and printing position of the clothing, and complete the pattern design according to their needs.
In terms of pattern uploading, the device provides methods such as scanning the QR code with a mobile phone to upload, drawing on the device screen, and selecting recommended creative patterns. For the images uploaded by consumers, the system can perform background processing, size adjustment and position adjustment, so that the designed content can adapt to the clothing printing area. After confirming the design, the consumer completes the payment, and the device enters the printing process.
The printing link adopts DTG direct-to-garment printing technology, with a printing area of 260mm×400mm, which can support color and black-and-white pattern printing, can adapt to clothing products such as T-shirts and sweatshirts according to different product requirements, and supports both front and back printing. Through the digital printing method, the device does not need to make traditional printing plates for different patterns, which is more suitable for small-batch, personalized and instant production scenarios.
From the perspective of the consumption process, this device does not simply provide a clothing printing device, but attempts to integrate "design - order placement - production - pickup" into one offline consumption terminal. Equipment Sales Combined with Clothing and Service Revenue: The Project is in the Commercial Verification Stage
In terms of business model, the project currently takes equipment sales as the main entry point, and combines clothing and printing consumables to form subsequent revenue space. The current planned selling price of the device is 56,000 yuan, and the manufacturing cost of a single device is about 30,000 yuan. At the terminal consumption end, the planned selling price of T-shirts is 69 yuan per piece, the cost of each T-shirt is about 12 yuan, and the cost of printing consumables per piece is about 0.3 yuan.
Calculated based on 10 orders per day for a single device and 30 days of operation per month, the monthly order volume is about 300, corresponding to a sales volume of about 20,700 yuan. Calculated based on the direct materials of T-shirts and printing consumables, the theoretical gross profit contribution of each piece is about 56.7 yuan, and the theoretical gross profit contribution corresponding to 300 orders is about 17,000 yuan. This data is a calculation based on the current price, cost and order assumptions, and is not equivalent to the final net profit after deducting operating expenses such as site rent, channel share, labor, logistics, payment handling fees, and maintenance.
In addition to equipment and clothing sales, the project also plans to further expand its operation capabilities through the back-end management system. Equipment operators can perform product management, inventory management, price adjustment and equipment operation data management through the back-end, so as to reduce the management cost after the operation of multiple devices. With the increase in the number of devices, the back-end system is expected to become an important infrastructure connecting devices, products, orders and operation data.
From the perspective of market space, the project does not limit its target users to a single clothing consumer group, but focuses on offline scenarios with demands for instant consumption and personalized consumption. The device can not only face ordinary consumers, but also serve B-end scenarios such as commercial complexes, scenic spots, event organizers, and IP operators. For B-end customers, the device can be used as a new offline retail terminal; for C-end consumers, it provides an entry for instant personalized product consumption.
The project is still in the early commercialization stage, and the market scale and single-device operation data need to be further verified through actual deployment of devices. Therefore, the focus at this stage is not to rapidly expand the number of devices, but to continuously verify user demand, equipment stability, order conversion rate and single-device economic model through real operation scenarios, and continuously optimize products according to actual operation feedback.
Prototype and Software System Development Completed, Angel Round Funds Will Be Used for Product Optimization and Market Expansion
In terms of project progress, the prototype has been completed, the software system has also been developed, and the core process of the product has been opened up. The project has started market promotion and customer expansion, and has successively received inquiries from potential customers. The main work at this stage focuses on product detail optimization, equipment operation stability improvement and commercial scenario verification.
Compared with projects that are still in the concept verification stage, this project already has a displayable and operable actual product form. The investment funds will be mainly used to further solve the problems exposed by the prototype in the actual operation process, and promote the transformation of products from single prototypes to standardized, small-batch products.
The planned financing amount for this round is 500,000 yuan. The funds will be mainly used for product R&D and optimization, small-batch production, market expansion and team building. Among them, about 30% is planned for product R&D and optimization, 40% for small-batch production, 20% for market promotion and channel expansion, and 10% for team building.
After the financing is completed, the project will focus on promoting the standardization of equipment products, actual commercial scenario testing and small-batch production, and find suitable channels for equipment deployment through scenarios such as scenic spots, shopping malls, commercial streets, and theme events.
