36Kr has learned that Shenzhen Phenomenon Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Phenomenon Photovoltaic") has announced the completion of a tens of millions of yuan Pre-A round of financing. This round of financing is invested by Lihe Fund, and the funds will be used to further increase the company's scientific research investment and promote the transformation of achievements.

"Phenomenon Photovoltaic" was established in 2022 and is a company focused on the development of new perovskite materials. It uses self-developed functional materials and preparation schemes, combined with a high-throughput AI new material development platform, to develop perovskite materials that are more suitable for industrialization. The perovskite materials and processes of "Phenomenon Photovoltaic" are mainly applied to photovoltaic modules, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), flexible and indoor photovoltaics, and vehicle-integrated photovoltaics (VIPV), which is of particular concern in the industry.

Perovskite is the general term for crystal materials with an ABX3 structure. It can be found in fields such as solar cells, light-emitting diodes, catalysts, sensors, piezoelectric materials, and even future quantum computer components. Although traditional silicon-based solar cells dominate the photovoltaic field, their high manufacturing costs and energy-consuming production processes limit their further popularization. As the third-generation new thin-film battery, perovskite has the characteristics of high efficiency, low cost, and diverse applications.

The raw materials of perovskite solar products have a rich variety of selectable materials and can be made into products of various colors and different transparencies. Because perovskite can be made on a flexible substrate material, it has a wide range of applications in various curved and flexible scenarios. Not only that, the photoelectric theoretical conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells is higher than that of crystalline silicon solar cells. Especially, it can achieve a higher conversion efficiency under low light conditions, and is suitable for use in outdoor scenarios with insufficient sunlight and indoor scenarios.

However, as the third-generation thin-film photovoltaic technology with the greatest potential to become the future mainstream, the problems of product yield and battery stability faced by perovskite photovoltaic modules in the mass production process have always been the pain points in the industry. "Phenomenon Photovoltaic" is based on the material system and starts from simplifying the battery structure, and proposes a variety of material solutions, including the independently created perovskite precursor solution "Phenosolar#1".

The co-founder of "Phenomenon Photovoltaic" told 36Kr, "The company has carried out component innovation and regulation on the perovskite precursor solution. After continuous demonstration and testing, using this solution modulation formula, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the two-terminal tandem battery is stably above 30%. At the same time, the company has reduced one process in the traditional perovskite preparation process, greatly reducing the equipment procurement cost of the production line, reducing the production process, thereby speeding up the production rhythm and reducing the use of energy."

At present, "Phenomenon Photovoltaic" has obtained a number of authorized invention patents in the full life cycle of perovskite, including research and development of perovskite material systems and additives, preparation methods, devices, applications, and recycling, from professional technical fields such as new material systems, mass production preparation processes, recycling, secondary purification, and secondary preparation. At the same time, "Phenomenon Photovoltaic" has established a nationally leading perovskite thin-film photovoltaic research and development center in Nanshan District, Shenzhen.
