At 9 a.m. on October 10, Pacific Time, AMD held a press conference in San Francisco, where it launched the highly anticipated Ryzen AI PRO 300 series mobile commercial processors. With fully upgraded hardware performance, it has added fuel to the already booming AI PC field.
With its excellent performance and innovative technology, this series of processors shows strong advantages in many aspects. Firstly, in the core architecture, it adopts the advanced "Zen 5" CPU architecture, RDNA 3.5 GPU architecture, and AMD XDNA 2 NPU architecture.
Compared with the previous generation of AMD Ryzen series processors, the Ryzen AI PRO 300 series has significantly improved in several key indicators, achieving significant enhancements in core count, thread count, cache, and graphics processing capabilities. For example, the core count can reach up to 12C/24T, the graphics processing unit is upgraded to 16 computing units, and the NPU performance is as high as 50 - 55 TOPS.

Overall, the Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors launched by AMD have significantly outperformed their competitors in various data indicators - in tests such as Cinebench R24 and Procyon Office Productivity, its performance surpasses the Intel Core Ultra 7 series processors. (It outperforms by 30% - 40% in CPU performance and 9% - 14% in productivity performance.)

AI has now become a key technology in the PC industry, and it is not an exaggeration to call it a "turning point" - According to Gartner data, PC shipments ended the continuous decline in the past eight quarters in Q4 2023, although it only increased slightly by 0.3% year-on-year, and the overall PC replacement cycle has reached as long as 5 years.
Whether AI can trigger a new round of PC replacement wave has become a common concern in the industry.
"I truly believe that AI will be the ability that triggers the growth of the PC market." Dr. Lisa Su, Chairman and CEO of AMD, said in an interview with 36Kr in March this year.
"If your PC is mainly used for work, it can help you summarize and you can save time. If you use your PC for content creation, you can also save time. Therefore, I think this is the main reason." Dr. Lisa Su emphasized.
In the performance demonstration of the Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors, AMD also has many highlights in terms of pain points such as battery life and security for enterprises and users.
Among them, the Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors can meet the rigid work needs of enterprise users in terms of battery life, and can reach the standards of "all-day battery life" (at least 8 hours) and "multi-day battery life" (more than 8 hours), ensuring the convenience of mobile office.
In terms of security performance, AMD provides comprehensive protection for enterprise users. It adopts multi-layer security protection technologies, including "AMD PRO Security", to protect from hardware to the cloud, including AMD Memory Guard to protect enterprise sensitive data, ensuring data security even if an employee's PC is lost or stolen.
In addition, this series of processors also cooperates with ISV partners to provide AI-enhanced security features, such as anti-phishing technology, to ensure the security of enterprise data and networks, and can also meet the standards of regulated industries such as healthcare and finance for transparent AI decision-making.
The AI capability is also a major highlight of the AMD Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors. It has the latest AMD Ryzen AI technology. Through in-depth collaboration with many ISV partners, it can achieve a variety of AI applications in many scenarios, such as subtitle display, real-time translation, image generation and other functions, covering multiple fields such as data processing, speech recognition, content generation, and intelligent meeting assistance.

At this press conference, AMD demonstrated the "Recall" function of the AI PC product in cooperation with Microsoft on the spot. By entering prompt words such as "Find a photo of friends and flowers", "How much is the XX product?", "Remove the shadow of the XX photo", etc., the corresponding operations can be quickly completed in the PC.
"AI PC will become the best productivity assistant for consumers, and we will provide the strongest computing power for PC manufacturers." Dr. Lisa Su said at the press conference.
At the same time, the Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors also adopt a simplified development framework, support pre-training, quantization, and deployment of AI models, and can run applications on the processor through ONNX Runtime, providing convenience for enterprise software development and application.
