Effective immediately, the usage quota of ChatGPT Pro has been doubled.
OpenAI has finally done the right thing.
In the early hours of October 30 Beijing time, Tibo (Thibault Sottiaux) announced good news that the usage limits for all Pro and Business Premium users have been doubled, effective immediately. This is part of OpenAI's "28 Days of Continuous Improvement" initiative.
Yesterday OpenAI was still distributing free API credits to ChatGPT Pro and Business users, and today it doubled the built-in usage limits. Tibo said this decision was made after collecting user feedback.
Previously, the 200 usage quota for new Pro subscribers after September 29 had been halved, while existing users enjoyed a "grace period" ending on October 30. Under the new rule, Pro 200 users who previously had higher quotas retain their original limits, while Pro 200 users with lower previous quotas get their usage doubled, bringing both groups to the same unified level.
Now the situation is back to normal. The specific changes to the Pro tier plans have been recorded on OpenAI's official help page and release notes.
Take Pro 200 as an example: after the adjustment, the usage quota is restored to the previous level. The built-in usage for ChatGPT Work and Codex is 20 times that of the Plus tier, users can use GPT-6 Pro 200 times per week in chat mode, and there is no 5-hour usage cap. The Pro 200 quota increase does not unlock the Ultrafast feature, which remains exclusive to Pro 500.
In addition, the membership quota for the Plus tier remains unchanged.
Since October 5, Thibault Sottiaux, Head of Core Products and Platforms at OpenAI, has promised to roll out relevant improvements for Codex and ChatGPT Work every day continuously, or otherwise provide a one-time "reset". Up to now, OpenAI has launched interactive responses for GPT-6, Astra Pro parallel multi-agent, GPT-6.1 Terra, as well as a complete set of improvements around speed, caching and usage quotas.
OpenAI is simultaneously improving its models, task execution system and access portals, making it more convenient for AI to continuously undertake work tasks. The quota increase is only the most intuitive benefit for users, and the improvements to caching, response speed and task collaboration in actual use will also reshape everyone's experience.
In addition, some usage methods that everyone has been accustomed to are also due for updates. Some users using the web version of ChatGPT can see the notification that chat mode and work mode are being merged:
It is still unknown how the usage quota will be calculated after the merger?
