Moments ago, Claude personal intelligent agents made a surprise debut, proactively reaching out to you for briefings, and staged a sudden raid on Muse and Dot.
Reported by Zhidongxi on October 22, in the early hours of today, Anthropic launched the brand-new personal AI agent application Claude Duet, which focuses on proactively handling work tasks, can connect to users' emails, calendars, banks and enterprise business systems, proactively discover to-do items without users issuing instructions, and continuously execute tasks.
Claude Duet is built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model, and can call more than 6000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace to complete tasks such as financial analysis, recruitment management, customer communication, and payroll processing. Even if the user turns off their computer or mobile phone, Claude Duet can continue running in an independent virtual machine.
At present, Claude Duet has launched independent apps for iOS, Android and web, and the first batch of research preview waitlist applications are open to Pro and Max subscribers in the United States, with full public access not yet available.
The debut of Claude Duet has also sparked discussions in the overseas AI community.
Thibault Sottiaux (online alias Tibo), head of ChatGPT and Codex under OpenAI who is playfully called "the God of Reset" by developers, joked in the comment section: "Dot, meet Duet. Duet, meet Dot. You two should get along well."
Some netizens said: "Duet has already won. It uses the Opus model, which says it all." He also called out to Tibo remotely: "Hope you still have some tricks up your sleeve, especially on the model side."
Other netizens posted the classic "Spider-Man pointing at each other" meme with the caption: "Muse, Dots, Grok, and now Duet comes along."
Some netizens also said: "Oh no, I just switched from Claude to Grok Bot today." Another netizen said: "Grok Bot and Dot now have competitors. I've been waiting for this for a long time."
Back in September, Meta and OpenAI successively launched their personal AI agents Muse and Dots. With Anthropic joining in, there is one more participant in the competition around personal AI assistants.

Proactively Report To-do Items Every Day
Capable of Managing Recruitment and Financial Work
A major feature of Claude Duet is that it can proactively discover work that needs to be handled in advance without the user taking the initiative to ask questions.
According to the demo video released by Anthropic, Claude Duet will proactively send a work briefing every morning, extracting information from various connected applications to tell users what important matters are on the agenda today and what decisions need to be made as soon as possible. The video shows a day of Nicole, a user who runs a coffee company, using Claude Duet. In the morning, Claude Duet sends a work briefing to Nicole, listing three key items.
Claude Duet not only lists to-do items, but also prepares corresponding processing materials in advance, including license application documents, recruitment arrangements, and contract counteroffer drafts.
In addition to the work briefing, it also proactively offers to create a sales dashboard based on the company's latest operating data. When Nicole replies "Go for it!", Claude Duet says it will extract data from point-of-sale terminals, online stores, customer relationship management systems (CRM), customer service, payroll systems and bank accounts. Users do not need to open each platform one by one, download data and then organize it, as Claude Duet can call the corresponding tools on its own to complete the task.
Claude Duet can also proactively remind Nicole that the Chicago store will open in 26 days, but the health permit has not been submitted yet. It has already drafted the application document in advance, and prompts the user to review it before making payment.
In addition, Claude Duet will also adjust task priorities according to the progress of work. For example, when the Northfield renewal matter does not need to be handled immediately for the time being, it will proactively inform the user that this matter can be continued next Monday.
The recruitment scenario further demonstrates how Claude Duet participates in a multi-hour continuous task.
In the demo, Claude Duet first reports to the user that the interview panel is interviewing three candidates, and relevant records will be organized after the interviews are finished.
Then it generates a summary based on the interviewers' feedback, pointing out that Jenn is the top candidate for all interviewers, and reminds the user at the same time that Jenn has also received another job offer.
After Nicole confirms that Jenn is also her top choice, she asks Claude Duet to extract the compensation package from the human resources folder and draft the offer email. Claude Duet immediately generates the email draft, attaches the PDF of Jenn's compensation package, and submits it to the user for confirmation before sending.

Connected to More Than 6000 Tools
Can Keep Working Even After Users Step Away
Claude Duet can inherit the memories, skills and connected applications in the user's existing Claude account, reducing the initial configuration cost.
In terms of interaction methods, Claude Duet supports text and voice input. Users can arrange tasks, check progress, and add new requirements at any time in the same ongoing conversation.
Different from traditional automation tools that require users to keep their devices online, Claude Duet has its own virtual machine and browser. After the user assigns a task, it can independently judge which applications to call and which operations to perform, and keep running in the background. Even if the user leaves the computer or turns off the mobile phone, the task will not be interrupted. Claude Duet will send a notification when the task is completed or user review is required.
However, it is currently unable to show users the process of its browser operations.
In terms of tool connection, Claude Duet can leverage more than 6000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace to access software services commonly used in daily enterprise operations.
For example, it can find missed important messages in Gmail and Slack and draft replies; check unpaid invoices through QuickBooks or Stripe and prepare payment reminders; fill in working hours, bonuses and reimbursement information in Gusto to prepare for payroll disbursement.
In recruitment and sales business, it can also draft recruitment information and publish it on LinkedIn after user review; write follow-up emails using customer contact records and transaction history in HubSpot; prepare agreements and send them for signature via Docusign; use Canva to turn product launch plans into social media marketing campaigns.
For merchants running online stores, Claude Duet can also connect to Shopify to assist in designing and managing stores. Anthropic says that a more complete visual editor will be launched in the future, allowing users to preview the design effect before the store officially goes online.
In the payment process, Claude Duet supports purchasing required enterprise goods through Stripe's digital wallet Link. After the user confirms the goods, Link will request payment authorization again and use a virtual card to complete the payment, avoiding providing the real bank card number directly to the merchant.
It also supports completing online shopping checkout through Shopify's Shop Pay. In the future, Anthropic plans to let Claude Duet access websites using the login credentials stored in 1Password after obtaining user authorization.

Payments and Email Sending Must Be Approved
Background Checks Also Consume Quota
Since Claude Duet needs to connect to emails, banks and other enterprise applications, Anthropic has specifically emphasized security in its product introduction.
First of all, in terms of account credentials, Claude Duet follows the relevant design of Claude Managed Agents, and will not directly access users' passwords or login tokens.
Secondly, Claude Duet can independently read information, draft documents and prepare operations, but when it comes to sending messages externally, making payments, signing documents or deleting content, it must first show the user the upcoming operation and wait for confirmation.
Some operations will not be executed even if approved by the user, such as securities trading or fund transfer between accounts.
Aiming at the problem of sensitive information leakage, Anthropic has also equipped Claude Duet with a new dedicated classifier and security system prompt words to check message content and block the leakage of sensitive information.
For information of the highest sensitivity level such as credit card numbers and government-issued identification numbers, the system will reject relevant sharing requests. For other sensitive information such as health and personal finance, transmission is only allowed when the user explicitly instructs to send it.
Anthropic says Claude Duet's security infrastructure has undergone penetration testing by internal red teams and external security companies, and has been included in the public vulnerability bounty program.
In terms of proactive notification mechanism, Claude Duet does not monitor all connected accounts non-stop.
It currently checks connected applications every few hours, the main reason being that continuous checking will deplete the user's plan quota faster. Users can also set which notifications they want to receive and the notification frequency by themselves. The proactivity and background execution capability of Claude Duet both come with usage costs.
At present, Claude Duet shares the usage quota of Pro and Max plans with the main Claude product. Regular background checks will consume the quota, and complex tasks such as making financial models and presentations will call for more rounds of model inference, resulting in higher consumption.
Anthropic also explicitly acknowledges that Claude Duet is still in its early stage, and may misinterpret conversation content or misjudge the urgency of matters.
Since the current product is mainly designed around work scenarios, its capability to handle personal life affairs such as booking tickets is still not mature enough.
This preview version is only open for waitlist applications for Pro and Max users in the United States, and users need to wait for the official email notification to obtain access qualifications. Claude Duet is currently provided as an independent app and has not been integrated into the main Claude app.
