The Vietnamese team achieved 5 million installations in two months and topped the U.S. simulation game chart: Is the "Obby gameplay" being massively adopted by mobile game manufacturers?
Since mid-2025, a large number of mobile games that replicate Roblox gameplay have emerged intensively. For example, *Steal a Brainrot* launched in May 2025, and imitations of its gameplay appeared in batches on the mobile game end within half a year; other popular gameplay such as "Find the___", "RNG", "Grow a Garden" also have no shortage of directly ported works.
Recently we have also observed that since June 2026, a batch of Keyboard Escape games have emerged intensively on the mobile game end, and the top two products are both from Vietnamese developers.

The head concentration effect in the casual game track is very obvious. Roblox ranked third in the global download list in the first half of the year with about 150 million downloads, second only to *Block Blast* (175 million times) and *Garena Free Fire* (153 million times). Thanks to a virtual joint concert on July 25, Roblox's popularity further rose on the basis of the first half of the year in July this year.

The prototype of this batch of Keyboard Escape games comes from a native gameplay called "Obby" on Roblox: players move from the start point to the end point along a path with increasing difficulty. When they fail, they will return to the previous save position, and the specific position to return to is determined by the design. The classic "Obby" mostly returns to the bottom of the tower, while the version with checkpoints returns to the current level. The player's progress status is equivalent to "which level you are currently at".
The most popular work in the "Obby" system is *+1 Speed Keyboard Escape | Candy & Chocolate* developed by SecretVerse Studio, which was created on January 19, 2026. As of October 2026, it has accumulated about 6.2 billion visits, second only to *Tower of Hell* (about 28 billion visits) launched in 2018 among products tagged with Obby. It is classified as "Simulation / Incremental Simulation" in Roblox's official category, combining parkour with a sustainably accumulative speed value, which is exactly the premise that it can be completely ported to the mobile game end later.
*Keyboard Escape: +1 Speed ASMR* launched in August 2026 once rushed to the top of the US simulation game chart
Among the Keyboard Escape products that appeared in batches on the mobile game end, the first one to be launched was *Keyboard Escape: Speed Parkour* under H2T GLOBAL, with 2.88 million downloads in September 2026 alone;
The product with the fastest growth is *Keyboard Escape: +1 Speed ASMR* published by Goldoint. It was launched on August 13, 2026, with a total of 5.1 million downloads according to AppBrain, of which about 4.5 million were in the nearly 30 days.

A gameplay that has been played by tens of millions of players on Roblox, why can it gain another round of downloads after being ported to the mobile game end?
Why Keyboard Escape?
In the past two years, the incremental source of the mobile game market has been shifting from download scale to stock value. In the first half of 2026, global mobile game in-app purchase revenue reached 40 billion US dollars, down 2% year-on-year, and total downloads reached 24 billion times, down 12% year-on-year; the download volume of hyper-casual games shrank by 13.2% year-on-year, while the in-app purchase revenue of hybrid casual categories bucked the trend and increased by 23.8% in the first half of the year.

Manufacturers need new low-cost content sources. All gameplay on the Roblox platform is built by players. For a gameplay, how many people it can attract, the number of concurrent online players and the total visits are all traceable, which is almost a natural gameplay testing engine.
"Obby" is the abbreviation of "Obstacle Course" in the Roblox community, referring to an obstacle track connected by jumping platforms.
The reason why the mobile game end chose the keyboard, in addition to the popularity of *+1 Speed Keyboard Escape* on Roblox itself, also lies in the inherent "track structure" of its picture. The permutation and combination of keyboards not only conforms to Roblox's native art style and design conventions, but also can stimulate players outside the Roblox ecosystem's innovative imagination for parkour.

This type of product has short single gameplay duration, low failure cost, and can be restarted immediately after failure. Using the keyboard as the map, you can make a huge variety of changes in route, theme and color design. It can also meet the pleasure needs of parkour players in terms of movement freedom and random event trigger probability. With the bonus of the "trigger sound (ASMR)" selling point, it successfully overflowed the Roblox platform itself and entered the top of the mobile game download list in the second half of 2026.
The core loop of Keyboard Escape omits designs such as plot, character narrative and gameplay differentiation. Players can complete all the actions shown in the user acquisition materials within 45 seconds. Audiences can understand what the picture is doing at a glance in thumbnails and short videos. Every step forward increases the speed by 1. Speed is not only the player's reward, but also the source of difficulty. The faster the character is, the harder it is to control, and one wrong step will bring you back to the starting point. This constitutes the fundamental mechanism why it can be retried repeatedly and can be edited into short videos.
What determines whether a type of Roblox gameplay can be quickly ported to the mobile game end is also the player data structure it stores on the server side.
For example, the data structure of simulation games and management & construction games carries a complete economic state. The currency balance held by players, inventory of pets and props, upgrade and reincarnation progress, position information of buildings on the map, retention of multiple sets of currencies, etc. all rely on the continuous output of numerical curves. Porting parties need to reconstruct the economic system and rebalance it in addition to replicating the gameplay.
Even if the above categories with economic systems enter the mobile game end, most of them are simplified versions that cut the economic system, and there have been precedents of being removed from shelves due to platform review and legal risks. According to the records of app store pages and third-party app libraries, the mobile game replica of Roblox's original *Grow a Garden* was removed from Google Play in July 2026, and many imitations of *Steal a Brainrot* avoided the original economic design in their store descriptions.

The core progress of "Obby", that is, the level number where the player is currently located, and the level itself is the checkpoint. The commercialization of such games mainly relies on game passes. Level skipping, acceleration, checkpoint saving and gold coin multiplier are mostly delivered through game passes, and such rights are recorded by the platform. A small part of consumable products belong to developer products, and the platform does not save the purchase status, which requires developers to store it in their own database. In other words, what the porting party needs to reconstruct is levels, operation feel and "balance numbers", rather than a complete economic system.
AI lowers production thresholds
Ownership costs will also return to platform developers
The manufacturers that bet on Keyboard Escape mobile games include both user acquisition publishers like H2T GLOBAL that realize revenue through a mix of IAP and IAA, and individual developers like Serbull that rely on natural platform traffic and advertising revenue sharing.
H2T GLOBAL is already an experienced porting veteran, whose scale is built on product matrix and delivery links. Its core assets are the advertising monetization network and material delivery capabilities. It has launched a total of 106 applications under its name, many of which are "Obby" gameplay, with a total of about 288 million downloads and a monthly revenue of about 434,000 US dollars, of which *Parkour Master: Obby Games* has accumulated 23 million downloads.

15 out of the 16 products launched by individual developer Serbull on Yandex Games are named after "Obby", covering themes such as tsunami, prison break and driving, and some other products have entered portals such as Gameflare, whose keyword library also covers "Keyboard" and "Brainrot". The revenue of web mini-games comes from platform recommended traffic and advertising sharing, so the choice of gameplay themes is more dependent on the platform's recommendation preferences.

The premise for the two types of developer teams to share the same track is that the platform continuously produces restorable gameplay prototypes, and both ends of this supply chain may be changed at the same time in the near future.
Roblox launched its mobile-first AI creation entry "Build" in July 2026, which supports generating playable content directly with natural language prompts, and entered public beta in New Zealand on July 28, 2026. As of September 1, 2026, creators have released about 9,000 games through Build, 71% of whom have never used Roblox Studio before.

In addition to production, the distribution link in the Roblox ecosystem has also undergone key changes. On September 11, 2026, Roblox announced the "Roblox Everywhere" distribution plan at the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC 2026), allowing creators to package in-platform games as independent applications and launch them on mobile, PC and console stores, with underlying technologies and services still provided by Roblox. A Roblox spokesperson confirmed that the first batch of externally distributed creators will follow the in-platform revenue sharing model, which means that the cut from the channel store and Roblox's share will be superimposed on the same revenue.
There are still many disputes over this plan, and it will probably take some time before it is fully implemented Source: X
