Viral Promotional Campaign Accused of Shifting Costs to Franchisees, CHAGEE Responds

On the morning of October 13, the topic "CHAGEE Franchisees Speak Out" topped the trending search list. Online rumors alleged that the brand launched a buy-one-get-one-free campaign to celebrate its spokesperson Zheng Qinwen's championship at the China Open, with all the beverage costs covered by franchisees, and the brand only providing a subsidy of about 3 yuan per cup. In response to Jiemian News, CHAGEE stated that the rumors are not true. After the campaign went live, the brand's mini-program crashed, orders surged sharply, and stores operated far beyond their normal capacity. The brand previously officially announced that it would allocate 13.5 million yuan in special bonuses to reward frontline store employees who participated in the operation support. Although this marketing campaign quickly gained widespread public attention, insufficient pre-preparation in aspects including mini-program stability and store production capacity exposed shortcomings in handling sudden large traffic surges. CHAGEE is a new tea beverage brand listed on the US stock market, with a total of 7639 stores worldwide as of June 2026. (Jiemian News, Red Star News)

Global smartphone shipments hit the lowest level in 14 years

According to data from Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2026 fell 20% year-on-year, hitting the lowest level for the same period since 2012. The global retail price of mobile phones has risen by about 20% cumulatively this year, consumers' phone replacement cycle has been extended, and public attention to refurbished phones has increased. The market shows a differentiated trend: high-end demand maintains strong resilience, while the pressure in the mass market is prominent. Samsung's market share rose to 23% and ranked first, with Apple's share reaching 22%; Xiaomi's shipments fell by more than 30% year-on-year, and both OPPO and vivo recorded a decline of over 20%. Institutions predict that before the memory supply problem is improved, the mobile phone industry will hardly see a significant recovery, and manufacturers will continue to tilt resources to high-end models. Sulfur prices have surged nearly 10 times

Sulfur can be used to produce sulfuric acid, which is widely applied in phosphate fertilizer production and copper smelting. Well-funded mining enterprises are snapping up supplies at high prices, squeezing fertilizer manufacturers who are forced to cut production. Institutions warn that the cost pressure may be transmitted upward, pushing up global food prices. Some fertilizer enterprises are adjusting their product lines and looking for alternative raw materials to cope with the crisis, while copper enterprises, benefiting from the strong boom in the metal sector, can afford the rising sulfuric acid prices. Market data shows that the sulfur trade crisis is still worsening. (Cailian Press)
