36Kr Global · Middle East | Qatar Launches Companies House to Realize "One-Stop" Processing for Enterprise Registration in Economic Zones
Qatar recently launched Companies House in Doha, which is uniformly responsible for enterprise registration, business licensing and other related affairs across multiple economic zones in Qatar.
According to its functional scope, Companies House will be in charge of enterprise registration, business activity licensing and public registry information management, covering the following four major enterprise landing platforms:
- Qatar Financial Centre (QFC)
- Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ)
- Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP)
- Media City Qatar
Previously, the above platforms carried out relevant businesses under their respective management and regulatory systems. The establishment of Companies House further centralizes the relevant functions scattered in different economic zones, which helps simplify the processing procedures and strengthen service coordination among all economic zones.
In addition to enterprise registration and business licensing, Companies House will also provide registered enterprises with tax and immigration services, and supervise enterprises to comply with labor standards and data protection requirements. After the relevant services are incorporated into unified management, investors can gain a clearer understanding of registration, licensing and compliance requirements during the process of enterprise establishment and subsequent operation.
His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar and Chairman of the Companies House Advisory Board, stated that through the integration of multiple functions, investors can go through the relevant procedures for setting up enterprises in Qatar's economic zones via a unified window, further improving the convenience of enterprise establishment and enhancing the competitiveness of Qatar's investment environment. This initiative is aligned with the development goals set out in Qatar National Vision 2030.
Companies House has also established an advisory board, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar. Its members include Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al-Thani, CEO of Qatar Investment Promotion Agency, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani, CEO of Qatar Free Zones Authority, Mansoor Rashid Al-Khater, CEO of Qatar Financial Centre, Hamad Omar Al-Mannai, CEO of Media City Qatar, and Rama Chakaki, President of Qatar Science and Technology Park. Nasser Al-Taweel has been appointed as the CEO of Companies House.
The establishment of Companies House further connects the enterprise service links among multiple economic zones in Qatar, reduces the administrative complexity in the process of enterprise establishment, and provides investors with a clearer and more convenient market access channel. With the gradual centralization of relevant functions, Qatar's enterprise service system for local and international investors will be further improved.
