Embodied intelligence is evolving from a "demonstration exhibit" to "productivity". This year, the Chinese government has put the real assessment on the table. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council jointly launched the *2026 Special Action for Humanoid Robot and Embodied Intelligence Real-Scene Practical Training*, with 9 key scenarios open for global solutions: manufacturing, testing and analysis, maintenance and repair, warehousing and logistics, distribution and retail, medical care and health management, work safety, emergency rescue, disaster prevention and mitigation.
Shanghai, as a pilot city, undertakes the national task. October 23-25, Zhangjiang Science Hall, Shanghai, the 2026 Global Developer Pioneer Summit (GDPS) and International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition, a real-scene major assessment for university teams will officially kick off. This is not an ordinary competition, participation equals roadshow, award-winning equals financing. Only those tempered in the competition arena can become the real productivity of the future.
Who Can Participate
Open to student research teams from universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad.
Each team has no more than 5 members, and at least one member has experience in model debugging or embodied intelligence operation.
How to Compete
Phase 1: Co-construction of scenarios and competition questions — Scenario partners confirm co-construction, arrange experts to share the real pain points of production lines, provide scenario restoration drawings, and convert enterprise pain points into competition question directions.
Phase 2: Construction, testing and training — Collaborate with participating teams to enter the site for construction, conduct real-time joint debugging and iteration against the real production line, to ensure that the simulation environment is highly consistent with the real production line.
Phase 3: On-site Competition (October 23-25) — Teams independently complete assigned tasks, deal with newly added generalization problems on site, to truly test the generalization ability of robots.
Simulation Tournament — Collect real scenario data from factories across the country, conduct online competition verification, and reserve high-quality participating teams.
Real-Scene Practical Training — High-quality teams enter the national real-scene practical training venues, conduct offline training to empower production lines, and winning teams will be recommended for order cooperation.
Excellent Project Showcase — Select outstanding teams and their solutions, and recommend them to the WAIC Embodied Intelligence Exhibition.
Ternary Review cross validation: scientists (led by Academician Andrew Chi-Chih Yao) quantify the accuracy of actions, AI experts evaluate the maturity of the whole machine, and master technicians measure the real-scene operation performance according to the standards of human skilled workers. With 9 major scenarios and 23 competition events, the path to the championship is clearly visible.

Awards Overview
Award-winning teams will obtain rewards specified in the competition plan according to their rankings:
Champion of each track: Docking with 10-million-level investment, direct access to the 2026 Dubai Exhibition in the Middle East, and the robot zone of 2027 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of each track: Docking with million-level financing.

Exclusive for University Teams
For teams from universities and scientific research institutions, no award ranking required, as long as you participate in the competition in real earnest, submit algorithm results, pass the selection and complete the semi-final training of real-scene practical training, you can get the Honor Certificate sealed by the "Organizing Committee of Global Developer Pioneer Summit", which marks the team name, competition season, competition event and algorithm capability.
There is only one threshold: real algorithm capability. It will not be issued to "perfunctory participants", but only certifies "real skills that can stand the test of the competition".
For participating students, this certificate is exactly what they need:
- Put it in your resume as a hard-core endorsement for job hunting and further study application
- Use it as supporting materials for award evaluation, merit assessment and comprehensive evaluation
- An authoritative credential of "having participated in an international top-level competition"
