Shanghai Lingang New Area has released a housing security policy for young people in new forms of employment, with a maximum rent subsidy of 1,500 yuan in the first year.

Recently, the Implementation Plan for the New Employment Youth Housing Support Policy of Lingang Special Area has been released, providing rental subsidies for eligible young people.

The applicants are highly educated young people under the age of 35, who have graduated for no more than 3 years, own no residential property in Shanghai and are employed in Lingang. They also need to meet other requirements including that the social security contribution base does not exceed twice the average salary of Shanghai in the previous year.

In terms of subsidy standards, the subsidy in the first year shall not exceed 60% of the rent, with a maximum monthly subsidy of 1500 yuan per housing unit; the subsidy amount will be halved in the second year. The subsidy will be directly paid to the housing operation company, and the applicant pays the rent at the post-subsidy price, with settlement conducted every six months.

The online application channel is the "New Employment Youth Housing System" in "Suibanshen", and the offline consultation point is located at Chenyu Youth Power Center, No. 851, Haiyang 1st Road, Pudong New Area. After the application is approved, the qualification is valid for 90 days, during which the applicant can select and move into the housing unit at the subsidized price.

This policy shall be implemented as of the date of issuance, covering affordable rental housing within the 431-square-kilometer industry-city integration zone of Lingang Special Area, and is valid until December 31, 2030.
