macOS leaks Apple's roadmap for multiple upcoming new products, including camera-equipped AirPods and other related products

Just now, Apple's rumored AirPods with built-in camera has been exposed in macOS Tahoe 26.7 RC.

This system demo video shows:

A user holds a book next to the headset, letting the camera on AirPods recognize the book title. The voiceover shows that users can save the information they see or ask about the surrounding environment through "Visual Intelligence" and Siri. The system will also send a reminder when hair covers the headset to avoid affecting recognition accuracy.

Different from taking photos or recording videos, Apple's AirPods camera is expected to transmit real-time footage of the wearer's surrounding environment to Siri, so as to cooperate with the existing Visual Intelligence technology.

System files mark this device as "B790". Mark Gurman, a reporter from Bloomberg, previously mentioned this codename and said the product may debut as early as September this year.

Since the camera-equipped version is expected to be priced higher than the current $249 AirPods Pro 3, according to Gurman, Apple is considering naming this product AirPods Ultra instead of AirPods Pro 4.

The camera will further turn AirPods from an audio entry point into an environment perception device. The "Visual Intelligence" that previously relied mainly on the iPhone camera may be worn by users at any time in the future.

The products leaked by macOS Tahoe 26.7 this time are far more than AirPods.

MacRumors found a large number of codenames and function markers for unreleased devices in the release candidate version, covering almost all of Apple's main hardware product lines.

  • iPhone 18 Series | V63, V64, V67

V63 and V64 are considered to correspond to iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which are expected to be released in September this year; V67 may be the standard iPhone 18, and the release time may be in the spring of 2027.

  • Foldable iPhone Ultra | V68

This codename is believed to belong to Apple's first foldable iPhone, which is also one of the most anticipated new devices this autumn.

  • iPhone Air 2 | V62

The second-generation ultra-thin iPhone Air appears in the system code again, and it is currently expected to debut in the spring of 2027.

  • M6 MacBook Pro | J804

J804 may be the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with M6 chip. The code also contains multiple high-end MacBook Pro model numbers, which may be related to the rumored OLED models.

  • New iMac | J833, J834

Both codenames point to the new generation of iMac that Apple is developing, and the screen size and chip configuration are still unclear at present.

  • Next-generation iPad mini | J510, J511

The new device may be upgraded with an OLED screen and equipped with A19 Pro chip, but the system code has not revealed the specific release time yet.

  • Apple Home Hub | J490, J491

J490 may be the version with a desktop base, while J491 is designed for wall mounting. The system also has relevant codes for homeOS, the next-generation HomePod mini and a suspected home security camera.

  • Unreleased Headset | N109

Bloomberg previously linked this codename to the second-generation Vision Pro, while other reports believe it may belong to a lower-priced version, and the product positioning is still unclear now.

  • New Apple TV Remote | ATVRemote1,5

This model number may correspond to the unreleased new remote control, which means the next-generation Apple TV may also adjust the accessory design.

These codes can only confirm that Apple is testing the relevant devices, and the product name, final configuration and release time are still subject to change. However, a release candidate version exposing so much hardware information at the same time is equivalent to laying out Apple's product roadmap for the next year in advance.
