Gradually shift from the "pure scientific research track" to the "industrialization track"

According to the announcement from "Hefei Release", on August 11, Guoyi Quantum Technology (Hefei) Co., Ltd. (abbreviation: Guoyi Quantum, stock code: 688828.SH) was officially listed on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, becoming the third new Sci-Tech Innovation Board listed company in Hefei in 2026. As of now, Hefei has 91 A-share listed companies, 23 of which are listed on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board.

With the successful listing of Guoyi Quantum, the echelon of listed enterprises in Hefei's quantum technology industry has taken shape: QuantumCTek, the "first quantum technology stock" on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board, took the lead in going public; Guoyi Quantum, which broke the foreign monopoly in the field of quantum precision measurement, landed on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board; Origin Quantum has completed nearly 3 billion yuan of Pre-IPO financing and is sprinting to become the "first quantum computing stock".

2026 is known as the "first year of IPO" for China's quantum technology. In addition to Hefei, Beijing BOSON Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. completed its Pre-IPO round of financing and went through IPO guidance filing in July this year, while Shanghai Turing Quantum Computing Technology Co., Ltd. went through IPO guidance filing registration at the Shanghai Securities Regulatory Bureau on August 5, successively launching their A-share IPO processes.

Behind this trend is the fact that quantum technology is gradually shifting from the "pure scientific research track" to the "industrialization track". The China Business News previously interviewed industry insiders and pointed out that for a long time in the past, the core evaluation indicators of quantum computing were more focused on pure technical indicators. However, with the continuous development of domestic technologies such as superconductivity, photonic quantum, ion trap, and neutral atom, enterprises have begun to try to turn quantum chips, quantum measurement and control, quantum computers and cloud services into deliverable products.

Founded in 2016, Guoyi Quantum focuses on the R&D of quantum precision measurement and high-end scientific instruments. According to the prospectus, from 2023 to 2025, the company achieved operating revenues of 400 million yuan, 501 million yuan and 666 million yuan respectively, with a three-year compound growth rate of nearly 30%. The attributable net profit narrowed from -140 million yuan to -5.7972 million yuan, the non-recurring deducted net profit narrowed from -169 million yuan to -18.878 million yuan, and the loss was greatly reduced. The company expects the earliest point to turn from loss to profit to be 2026.

From the perspective of policy, the outline of China's 15th Five-Year Plan lists quantum technology as a future industry for forward-looking layout. Focusing on the three major directions of quantum computing, quantum communication and quantum precision measurement, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has previously deployed 17 "list of tasks" to strengthen the research on key common industrial technologies, develop core devices and equipment, improve the public service capacity of the industry, and promote the application and implementation of quantum technology in medical care, transportation, energy, finance and other fields.

Hefei is one of the first batch of cities in China to systematically layout the R&D and industrialization of quantum technology, and it is also one of the representative cities of quantum technology. As early as 2009, QuantumCTek was born on Hefei's "Quantum Avenue". This enterprise, which originated from the laboratory of University of Science and Technology of China, became the "first quantum technology stock" on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board in 2020.

In addition, focusing on the above three directions to cultivate leading enterprises in the industrial chain, in addition to Guoyi Quantum, which focuses on the field of quantum precision measurement, Hefei has Origin Quantum in the field of quantum computing. Its independently developed fourth-generation superconducting quantum computer "Origin Wukong-180" was officially launched in May this year, and has begun to receive quantum computing tasks from all over the world. In the field of quantum communication, China Telecom Quantum has launched a series of applications such as "Quantum + Call", "Quantum + Cloud Network" and "Quantum + Platform", covering more than 10 industries including government, political and legal affairs, emergency response, finance, medical care and manufacturing, with a user scale of over 7 million.

Overall, Hefei has now cultivated and gathered 107 quantum industry chain enterprises, with a revenue scale of over 6 billion yuan. To further promote the commercial implementation of the quantum industry, the outline of Anhui's 15th Five-Year Plan proposes to promote the R&D of commercial technologies and products for quantum secure communication; develop commercial products for quantum precision measurement such as quantum magnetometers, atomic gravimeters, photonic quantum radars, and high-precision optical clocks. The work report of Hefei Municipal Government proposes that this year, Hefei will make every effort to build a quantum technology and industry center, implement the "Thousand Scenarios" action for quantum information, and promote more than 100 "Quantum +" commercial applications.
