The clip-on earbud track has welcomed a new player.

On the evening of August 4, CMF by Nothing, a sub-brand under consumer tech brand Nothing, entered the arena with its first clip-on earbud, the Clip Pro, priced at 549 yuan.

Founded just three years ago, CMF has sold millions of products in more than 60 countries and regions around the world with its iconic design language. The newly launched Clip Pro is regarded by the market as a key move to complete its open-ear earbud product layout.

From the overall industry perspective, the core pain point of clip-on earbuds has always been the balance between wearing comfort and sound quality. For this new product, CMF chose to return to the essence of acoustics and ergonomics.

In terms of wearing experience, the Clip Pro does not adopt the common fixed-arc clamping solution widely seen on the market, but carries out refined reconstruction of the clip-on earbud form through the OpenFit Arc design.

A 30mm-long C-bridge structure disperses the force to three contact points, and the 0.5mm titanium alloy wire embedded inside enables the C-bridge to have an elastic opening angle ranging from 40° to 53.5°. This means it can adapt to auricles of different thicknesses and radian degrees, instead of forcing users to adapt to the product.

In terms of sound quality, the inherent physical shortcoming of the open-ear structure is low-frequency loss. The Clip Pro chooses to make efforts on the hardware side.

According to the introduction, the 10.8mm dual-magnetic circuit dynamic driver unit paired with TPU+LCP composite diaphragm lays a solid foundation for low-frequency response from the aspects of diaphragm material and magnetic circuit efficiency; the Malleus bass enhancement algorithm compensates for low frequencies while suppressing high-frequency distortion at the same time, instead of simply and crudely boosting the EQ; Hi-Res certification and LDAC support further ensure the amount of information in the wireless transmission process.

This logic of "prioritizing hardware before algorithms" first ensures that the driver unit can produce high-quality sound, and then uses algorithms to make up for the structural limitations.

In addition, while most earbud manufacturers are committed to packing more functions into the touch panel, CMF has taken a reverse path: retaining the mechanical knob.

The Clip Pro charging case retains the Smart Dial smart knob, which provides physical interaction logic of rotating to adjust volume, pressing to switch songs, and long pressing to pair devices. Meanwhile, the earbuds themselves also retain independent physical buttons, making it easier for users to operate in scenarios such as sweating during exercise or wearing gloves.

According to the latest data from IDC, in the first quarter of 2026, the global shipment of open-ear earbuds increased by 39.9% year on year, among which the proportion of clip-on products exceeded half for the first time, reaching 54.3%, officially becoming the mainstream form of open-ear earbuds.

From the perspective of CMF's product matrix, the Clip Pro is of special significance to CMF. Prior to this, CMF's audio product line mainly consisted of Buds (in-ear noise-cancelling) and Neckband Pro (neckband style). The launch of the Clip Pro marks that CMF has officially entered the fastest-growing open-ear earbud market.

From the perspective of market positioning, the pre-sale price of 549 yuan is just stuck in a blank market segment. At present, the market below 100 yuan is occupied by no-name brands, while the market above 1000 yuan is firmly held by brands such as Bose and Huawei. Whether the Clip Pro can make a breakthrough in the middle price range remains to be verified by the market.
