After 12 years of waiting, the long-awaited Tongyunmen Station on Beijing Subway Line 6 will open tomorrow!
The Transportation Commission of Tongzhou District announced today that the Tongyunmen Station on Subway Line 6 has passed the opening and operation review of the Municipal Transportation Commission and is expected to open on June 30th, with Entrances A and B opening simultaneously.
In March 2011, the ruins of the ancient city wall and the barbican of Tongzhou were discovered during the construction of the southeast part of Xinhua Avenue Station on Subway Line 6, which was a significant archaeological discovery.
In order to properly protect the ruins and carry out an integrated planning and design, when the second phase of Subway Line 6 opened in 2014, Xinhua Avenue Station (officially named Tongyunmen Station) was postponed from opening.
And people had to wait for more than 11 years. The residents in the surrounding area have been looking forward to the opening of this subway station.
The day after tomorrow, this station will finally open.
It is understood that the six supporting roads, bus services, shared bicycles, parking and other transportation connection facilities around Tongyunmen Station are basically ready. Route T48 of the bus has added a stop called "Subway Tongyunmen Station", which is adjacent to Exit 2; two temporary pick - up and drop - off areas for taxis have been set up in the surrounding area; four new parking areas for shared bicycles have been added, which can accommodate about 700 shared bicycles.
