On December 12th, Hichen Energy Storage made a significant announcement at the third Ecology Day event, unveiling its globally first native 8-hour long-duration energy storage solution, ∞Power⁸ 6.9MW/55.2MWh. This solution is built on an 8-hour energy storage system as its underlying architecture and supported by dedicated 8-hour battery cells at its core. With a native design from the battery cells to the system, it brings a genuine solution tailored for 8-hour long-duration energy storage to the industry, marking the arrival of the all-weather green power era.
Launch of ∞Power⁸ 6.9MW/55.2MWh
Currently, the power demand in scenarios such as electric vehicles and data centers is growing rapidly, and the global energy structure is accelerating its transformation towards variable renewable energy. However, there is a fundamental contradiction between the intermittency of new energy power generation and the stability and flexibility required by the power system. Relying solely on 2 - 4 hour energy storage is no longer sufficient to meet the system balance requirements.

Dedicated 8-hour long-duration energy storage system: Cost reduction, efficient operation, safety and reliability
∞Power⁸ 6.9MW/55.2MWh is a "turnkey" solution specifically designed for the all-weather operation scenario of intra-day long-duration energy storage. It is flexibly configured based on highly integrated standard units, with each standard unit having a power of 6.9MW and an energy of 55.2MWh. The highly integrated standard unit consists of one medium-voltage module and eight energy storage modules. Through optimizing the hoisting and wiring design, the solution significantly reduces the on-site construction intensity, improves the deployment efficiency by 18%, and reduces the floor area by 23% compared with the previous generation solution. At the same time, the product solution is suitable for scenarios such as independent energy storage power stations and energy storage for large wind and solar bases, and can also handle various extreme environments, better meeting the real-scenario requirements of project design and engineering implementation.

Cost reduction: Hichen Energy Storage has reconstructed the structural framework, eliminating a large number of redundant structural parts, which not only significantly reduces the material cost but also greatly improves the assembly efficiency. Efficient operation: By introducing technologies such as intelligent control and simulation and an end-to-end active equalization strategy, the auxiliary power consumption is reduced by more than 30%, the temperature control accuracy is improved by 50%, the response speed is increased by 20%, the equalization ability is 20 times higher than that of the traditional passive solution, and the equalization efficiency exceeds 97%. Conservatively estimated, the active equalization strategy alone can save more than one million US dollars for a 1GWh long-duration energy storage system.
Safety and reliability: It adopts the mass-produced high-strength steel belt binding technology, designs a rapid explosion venting system with two pressure relief valves working in coordination, and uses a new generation of high-performance heat-insulating materials between the battery cells. It can not only withstand the extreme high temperature of 800°C for a long time but also bear a huge pressure of 300kPa without failure. Hichen Energy Storage is also one of the earliest manufacturers in the world to pass the door-opening combustion test, which verifies the extreme heat resistance of the product.

Launch of ∞Cell 1300Ah 8h battery cells
The single-cell capacity of the ∞Cell 1300Ah 8h is 1300Ah, more than four times that of the mainstream battery cell products. The number of system components is reduced by more than 30%, effectively reducing the initial investment cost of the energy storage power station. By constructing a multi-level safety protection system from material intrinsic properties to system integration, the battery cells can pass strict safety tests, achieve non-propagation of thermal runaway, and ensure safety throughout the life cycle. The battery cells can support more than 25 years of long-term service, providing a solid guarantee for long-duration energy storage investment.
The key to overcoming the capacity bottleneck lies in Hichen Energy Storage's breakthrough in three core difficulties: easy cracking of the electrode sheet structure, slow electron and ion transmission speed, and difficult electrolyte infiltration. It has developed the "ultra-thick electrode technology" with independent intellectual property rights. Compared with Hichen Energy Storage's previous generation of batteries, the electrode sheet thickness of the new technology is significantly increased, which reduces the cost of power components such as foils for 8-hour battery cells by more than 50% compared with 2-hour battery cells, successfully achieving a perfect balance between battery cell function and economy.
