Good Morning?

Sorry, I went to the wrong set...

Yesterday noon, our old friend, Mr. Yu, along with a group of his old friends, introduced the brand - new HarmonyOS 6 operating system at the Huawei Lianqiuhu R & D Center in Shanghai.

Without evaluating the style of this press conference for now, right after the conference ended, the beta version update reminder of HarmonyOS 6 popped up on my Pura X. So I directly clicked to upgrade and now I'm here to talk to you about the changes in this new system.

However, before officially starting to show you HarmonyOS 6, let me first talk to Huawei phone users about how to upgrade if you want to experience the latest HarmonyOS 6.

As usual, the upgrade of HarmonyOS 6 also needs to be carried out in batches according to different models.

Newly released flagships, such as the Mate 70 series, Pura 80 series, Pura X series, etc., can directly participate in the beta test.

Click on "Try the Upgrade" in the upper - right corner of the system upgrade interface, and you can find the update entry for the beta version of HarmonyOS 6.

Non - mobile phone products such as triple - fold and foldable screen computers can also upgrade to the Beta version for Huawei fans. The upgrade method is similar. Taking a HarmonyOS computer as an example, go to Settings → Device Name → Check for Updates, and you can receive the update.

Older models may have to wait a little longer, probably until November or December.

Now that you've learned how to upgrade to HarmonyOS 6, let's start talking about HarmonyOS.

To sum up my experience with HarmonyOS 6 in the past two days in one sentence:

It is still working hard to improve the aspects that people have complained about, but the newly added features this time are really interesting, interesting enough to make you believe in HarmonyOS again.

OK, let's explain one by one why HarmonyOS 6 gives people such an impression.

This time, let's start with the not - so - good things first.

First of all, the most concerning issue for everyone is the app adaptation. Even with HarmonyOS 6, Zhuoyitong, which provides a compatible running environment for traditional Android software, is still an indispensable tool in daily use.

Let's not talk about some niche apps and games. Even apps like NetEase Cloud Music still rely on Zhuoyitong to function properly.

Fortunately, Huawei has been trying its best to make up for this. On the one hand, it continues to find ways to help apps that haven't been listed on the App Gallery complete the adaptation as soon as possible. On the other hand, it tries to minimize the usage differences between Zhuoyitong apps and native apps.

Installed Zhuoyitong apps are usually placed on the desktop in the form of large folders. You don't need to open the Zhuoyitong app to start the Android apps inside.

In addition, HarmonyOS 6 has added a logic for freely transforming large folders. As long as users are willing, they can enlarge the large folder enough to make Zhuoyitong apps look more like they are directly placed on the desktop.

Or you can simply move the icon of the Zhuoyitong app outside the folder, making it look more like a native HarmonyOS app.

Moreover, there are still no restrictions on installing Android APKs on HarmonyOS 6.

After downloading an app from its official website and clicking to open it, select Zhuoyitong in the pop - up window and you can directly jump to the installation page without any cumbersome authentication and unlocking...

In this way, most apps, whether they are listed on the App Gallery or not, can be used.

We originally thought this method would be restricted, but we found that it still works on HarmonyOS 6.

So if you don't mind the negligible differences between Zhuoyitong apps and native apps, you don't have to worry about app adaptation issues after upgrading to HarmonyOS 6.

Specifically for the functions of native HarmonyOS apps, HarmonyOS 6 has added a batch of functions on top of the "make - up" features of HarmonyOS 5.

Douyin has launched the local channel and live - streaming. The previous problems such as the lack of group - buying and the inability to view reviews in the mall have also been solved.

Meituan has finally added the "divine coupons", but the exclusive second - floor mentioned at the press conference may still take some time. There is no update yet.

For WeChat, which we use every day, although WeChat was not mentioned much at the HarmonyOS 6 press conference, it's mainly because the major upgrade schedule didn't match the time of this press conference. It doesn't mean that the adaptation of WeChat has stopped.

In September this year, WeChat suddenly released a version that added features such as sharing locations, underlining articles in official accounts, and article reading all at once.

A friend of mine who uses a Huawei Pura 80 Ultra as his main phone said he almost cried when he received this update...

I believe that features such as status updates and photo comments in Moments, which are currently missing, will be adapted soon.

Then some friends may ask, since there are still so many unadapted features, why did Mr. Yu tell me that so far, 23 million devices have been equipped with HarmonyOS 5?

The last time it was announced that the number had exceeded 20 million was at the end of September. How could there be so many more in such a short time? What kind of magic has HarmonyOS cast on these new users?

This brings me to an interesting thing I found after upgrading to HarmonyOS 6:

It's true that there are still many small in - app functions in HarmonyOS that need to be adapted, but every time HarmonyOS presents new features and functions, they are very interesting and eye - catching, making people eager to try them.

Take the points of this HarmonyOS 6 upgrade as an example. Regardless of their practicality, you'll definitely want to try them after seeing them.

The depth - of - field effect on the lock screen interface, which you've probably seen on other phones many times. Select a photo you like from the gallery and set it as the wallpaper. The system will automatically extract the main subject of the photo and place it in front of the clock and other widgets.

But HarmonyOS has added something new. Click on the clock widget to trigger the secondary menu, and you can find a function called "Artistic Signature".

After clicking in, you can not only customize the text of the personalized signature displayed on the lock screen, but also change the font and color of the signature according to your preference.

If you still think it's not personalized enough, you can click on "AI Creation" in the font section, select a photo from the gallery or take a new one, extract the font style from the picture, and use AI to generate your own font for the personalized signature.
