The HarmonyOS ecosystem is accelerating its progress. Huawei's "Tiangong Project" will invest 1 billion yuan to support AI ecosystem innovation.

At HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei announced that the number of terminal devices running HarmonyOS 5 has exceeded 17 million. The Harmony ecosystem is advancing at full speed, with a comprehensive upgrade of the AI full-scenario experience. Huawei also officially launched the "Tianguang Project". In the future, it will invest 1 billion RMB in funds and resources to fully support the innovation of the Harmony AI ecosystem and join hands with developers to enter a new stage of Harmony AI.

Harmony not only enables full-scenario interconnection through distributed capabilities but also integrates native AI support at the system level. With the launch of the "Tianguang Project", Zhu Yonggang called on more partners and developers to embrace Harmony and AI. He also welcomed campus developers and college students to join in creating Harmony AI. "You are the future of AI, and AI is also your future."

All in HarmonyOS: One system, one ecosystem, full-scenario intelligent experience

The Harmony ecosystem is an ecosystem built and shared based on OpenHarmony. Since OpenHarmony was open-sourced five years ago, it has had over 130 million lines of code, more than 9,200 community contributors, and launched over 1,300 hardware and software products and more than 70 industry distributions, covering fields such as finance, transportation, education, energy, aerospace, and consumer electronics. OpenHarmony has become the digital foundation for all industries.

The Harmony operating system, built on OpenHarmony, is born different. With its architecture of "one system, one ecosystem", it truly enables seamless connection across multiple terminals and full scenarios. Harmony has also organized the largest-scale joint innovation in the fields of operating systems and application ecosystems, creating more than 70 innovative experiences such as Tap to Connect, Live Window, and Secure Access.

Since the beginning of this year, Huawei's terminal products have been fully equipped with the Harmony 5 operating system, including mobile phones, computers, tablets, smartwatches, smart screens, and other categories. The full-scenario intelligent experience of Harmony has broken through the original technical scenarios and is constantly evolving. For example, the Pura X has introduced Xiaoyi with a realistic human interaction experience for the first time; the MateBook Fold Master Edition is equipped with Harmony AI and realizes the integration of the application ecosystem; the Mate XTs brings PC-level applications and interaction experiences, putting super mobile productivity in your pocket; and the smart screen MateTV brings innovative experiences such as Huawei's Lingxi Pointing Remote Control and AI movie search.

As the saying goes, the last part of a journey marks the halfway point. Harmony is still on the path of development and attaches great importance to user experience and feedback. So far, it has received more than 10 million user suggestions, and over 96% of them have achieved a rapid closed-loop. Harmony is getting better and better. With the launch of the "Harmony Voice Plan - Feedback with Rewards Activity", all consumers using devices equipped with HarmonyOS 5 can get a customized medal for each problem or requirement they feedback. Harmony Intelligence: A higher-order AI full-scenario experience. Xiaoyi is extremely powerful!

The AI agent is becoming an important direction for the evolution of the Harmony ecosystem. With the help of the "Tianguang Project", Huawei will support developers to build more AI meta-services, intention frameworks, and agents. The genes of Harmony AI's native and full-scenario interconnection will bring a higher-order AI full-scenario experience, subverting the way of obtaining information and services.

The Xiaoyi Task Space function, currently under testing, can autonomously schedule more than 120 docking tools and third-party agents, covering eight major categories of high-frequency scenarios such as office writing, travel planning, and creative planning, to achieve automatic processing of complex tasks from A to A. For example, in the office writing scenario, Xiaoyi can generate a 10,000-word report with pictures and text in about 20 minutes. Xiaoyi will call professional databases and public information, with reliable data sources, and can generate PPTs and save them locally. Xiaoyi is capable in all aspects!

The smarter intelligent assistant can perceive your emotions. Xiaoyi has also made significant progress in emotion perception and multi-device collaboration. It currently supports the recognition of 11 types of emotions and can achieve anthropomorphic interaction and service response in different scenarios. For example, when you open the car door and get in the car in the morning, Xiaoyi will greet you with a cheerful mood; when you are running, it will tell you your exercise data, remind you to pay attention to high heart rate, show surprise and admiration, or be professional and serious; when you are sad, it will empathize with you and help you shift your mood.

Relying on the "Xiaoyi Brain", Harmony has achieved unified decision-making and scheduling across devices and seamless task transfer, enabling the most suitable device to respond and process at the most appropriate location. For example, if you suddenly get an inspiration while driving and directly say "Xiaoyi, help me record", the Xiaoyi Brain will make the in-car Xiaoyi respond and call the mobile phone memo to record the content.

To further lower the threshold for agent development, Huawei has launched a new Xiaoyi Agent Open Platform, providing four development modes and more than 50 development component capabilities, supporting the creation of agents through natural dialogue. It also opens up 10 AI field Kits, 11 types of AI controls, and more than 240 standard intentions to fully empower developers to efficiently build AI capabilities and agents, providing an innovative fertile ground for AI Agents. With the help of the Harmony Tianguang Project, Huawei will work with partners and developers to accelerate the incubation of more than 10,000 AI-native meta-services, more than 1,000 intention frameworks/MCPs, and more than 5,000 agents.
