Frontier | 5-minute full charge + 860Wh/kg + 25000W/kg, three products of Wanxiang 123 launched simultaneously
Ultra-fast charging technology has become the optimal solution to address charging anxiety. Whether it's CATL's launch of the Shenxing battery or BYD's recent flash-charging battery, both highlight the charging rate as their biggest selling point.
Against this backdrop, Wanxiang 123 Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Wanxiang 123") held a product launch event named "Quest" on March 20th. Based on the low-voltage cell solution, it simultaneously launched three battery products: Flash Charge Ultra, Sky-Range Battery, and Infinite Battery.
First of all, Flash Charge Ultra features a 12C ultra-high charging rate technology, enabling it to achieve a "full charge in 5 minutes." It also has three core advantages: a wide temperature range (-40°C to 60°C), long lifespan (capacity retention rate of ≥70% after 5000 cycles), and high safety.
By optimizing the nanostructure of the lithium iron phosphate cathode to reduce the resistance of lithium-ion migration and combining with the BMS intelligent management system to monitor the battery status in real-time, this product can still output stably in extreme environments, completely replacing high-risk scenarios of lead-acid batteries.
In the urban mobility sector, users of two-wheelers and three-wheelers equipped with Flash Charge Ultra can achieve rapid energy replenishment at community charging piles without leaving their vehicles, eliminating potential hazards of home charging and flying wires. In the robotics field, it can achieve unmanned autonomous energy replenishment through fixed charging piles, breaking the dependence on spare batteries. In cold chain logistics, its low-temperature performance is better than that of lithium titanate batteries, enabling automated forklifts to operate efficiently in a -20°C environment.
The emergence of Flash Charge Ultra accelerates the replacement of battery swapping by ultra-fast charging. Ultra-fast charging brings high efficiency, high profits, and unmanned operation. Compared with the traditional battery swapping model, ultra-fast charging piles have lower maintenance costs and do not require spare batteries. With the high turnover rate of "one pile for multiple uses," this asset-light model shortens the investment payback period.
The ultra-fast charging network at fixed locations will also completely remove the "battery swapping" human action from the industrial chain, allowing electrification to truly enter the era of full automation and unmanned operation.
The second product is the Sky-Range Battery. With an ultra-high energy density of 860Wh/kg and an extremely lightweight design of 112.8g, it extends the drone's flight time from 40 minutes to 100 minutes and releases more than 30% of the payload space.
Its breakthrough lies in the semi-solid battery technology. Through material innovation and structural optimization, the Sky-Range Battery can still operate normally at a low temperature of -30°C, and its performance even improves at a high temperature of 60°C. After 300 cycles, the capacity retention rate exceeds 80%, and its lifespan is twice that of traditional batteries.
This technology broadens the application boundaries of drones. In the agricultural field, plant protection drones can operate continuously to cover thousands of acres of farmland. In emergency rescue, drones can continuously search and deliver supplies in extremely cold mountainous areas. In the logistics and transportation scenario, drones with increased payload can deliver multiple items in a single trip, doubling the efficiency.
More importantly, the Sky-Range Battery has passed strict safety tests, eliminating potential hazards such as high-temperature spontaneous combustion and low-temperature shutdown, clearing the obstacles for the large-scale commercialization of drones. The all-weather adaptability and long lifespan of the Sky-Range Battery can promote the transformation of drones from "aerial photography toys" to productivity tools, accelerating the large-scale commercial application of drones.
The third product, the Infinite Battery, has even more outstanding performance, with an ultra-high power density of 25000W/kg. This product is derived from the technology used by Wanxiang 123 in F1 races. It supports a 150C ultra-high discharge rate and can be charged to 75% in 1 minute at room temperature. After a thousand cycles, the capacity retention rate still reaches 87%.
Most notably, even when this battery is charged and discharged at a 150C rate at a high temperature of 80°C, the temperature fluctuation of the cell does not exceed 10°C, which also solves the problem of performance degradation of high-power batteries. The straight-line speed of drones equipped with the Infinite Battery exceeds 300km/h, far surpassing the 230km/h limit of traditional models.
In scenarios such as racing events and emergency material delivery, this performance advantage can be directly translated into mission success rates. Traditional high-power batteries are limited by cost and safety and are only used in military or cutting-edge fields. However, through large-scale mass production, the Infinite Battery can bring "track-level" performance to the civilian market.
From F1 cars on the ground to high-speed drones in the air, and then to the ultra-fast charging network on the streets, Wanxiang 123 is using technology to connect the power ecosystem "from the sky to the ground."
The emergence of Flash Charge Ultra, Sky-Range Battery, and Infinite Battery solves the energy replenishment anxiety, short battery life, and power bottlenecks in their respective application scenarios. Through large-scale applications with low cost and high safety, these cutting-edge technologies are moving from the laboratory to the streets, fields, and high altitudes. The appearance of these three products also makes cutting-edge technologies no longer out of reach but becomes a productivity tool in everyone's hands.
