Currently, the Chinese color TV market is experiencing an unprecedented "large" size trend, with 100-inch large-screen TVs becoming the focus of mainstream manufacturers. According to data from AVC, the overall sales of 100-inch TVs in 2024 increased by 283.3% year-on-year, becoming a bright spot in the low-growth market.
On February 22, Skyworth, in collaboration with JD.com and BOE, held the Skyworth JD100 Mini New Product Strategic Conference at the BOE Fuzhou · Lighthouse Factory to further explore the 100-inch large-screen TV market.
"The potential of the 100-inch market is huge, and the pain points of 100-inch demand are still on the way to being solved," said Dong Haitao, Executive Vice President of Skyworth Color TV Company. The newly released Skyworth JD100 Mini is the upgraded "joint answer" submitted by Skyworth, JD.com, and BOE to the market. The core of the product is equipped with a 100-inch Mini LED paper-like screen custom-developed by BOE.
JD100 Mini is the first 100-inch large-screen TV exclusively underwritten and customized by JD.com. To better solve the service problems of 100-inch TVs, JD.com will provide consumers with a one-stop service experience of free on-site survey and integrated delivery and installation. The entire process, including removing the old TV, delivering the new one, installation, and debugging, can be completed with just one visit. JD.com also provides a 1V1 exclusive customer service team for 100-inch TVs.
It is reported that Skyworth recognized the consumers' demand for 100-inch large screens and paper-like screens in 2023 and jointly launched the 100-inch paper-like screen with BOE. This product then achieved a threefold increase in sales in 2024, and other color TV brands have also followed suit.
Data from AVC shows that Skyworth has sold over 100,000 100-inch TVs through all channels in 2024, ranking first in the sales of 100-inch LCD TVs in the Chinese color TV market.
Zhou Shuang, Deputy General Manager of the TV SBU of BOE Display Device and Internet of Things Innovation Business, said that 100 inches has always been a strategic size for BOE. In the past year, the global shipment market share of 100-inch products was nearly 60%. Thanks to scale expansion and cost reduction, 100-inch TVs are now accessible to ordinary households.
36Kr has learned that the cost of 100-inch TVs has now dropped from over 100,000 yuan in 2017 to less than 20,000 yuan. With the national subsidy, consumers can now purchase a cost-effective 100-inch TV within 10,000 yuan.
"More and more users are choosing 100-inch TVs. Through JD.com's big data, it can be seen that the search data for 100-inch TVs is five times that of 98-inch TVs," Chen Yajun, Marketing Director of the Domestic Marketing Headquarters of Skyworth Color TV, told 36Kr. The sales of 100-inch TVs exceeded 300,000 units in 2024, and it is expected to exceed one million units in 2025. This will be an important market trend in 2025.
Dong Haitao said that in 2025, Skyworth and BOE established a new technology joint laboratory and will invest 200 million yuan to promote the upgrade of screen technology, create 100-inch TVs with ultra-high quality, and further popularize 100-inch TVs.
