Magic Atom has currently established the entire industrial chain links of humanoid robots, including independent research and development of core software and hardware, supply chain management and manufacturing, and scene-based application implementation.

36Kr has learned that the embodied intelligence company Magic Atom Robotics Technology (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Magic Atom") recently announced the completion of a 150 million yuan angel round of financing. This round of financing is led by Zhui Chuang Venture Capital and followed by Yi Pu Fund. This round of financing will be mainly used for technology research and development, mass production of the whole machine, and commercialization.

Magic Atom (MagicLab) was established in January 2024, focusing on the research and development and application of general-purpose robots and embodied intelligence technology. Its products include general-purpose humanoid robots and bionic quadruped robots, covering multiple scenarios such as industry, commerce, and households.

In terms of the team, Magic Atom currently has about 100 employees, of which more than 80% are R & D personnel, and more than 50% have a master's degree or above. The core members of the R & D team mostly graduated from well-known domestic and foreign universities such as Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Beihang University, and New York University, and have many years of R & D experience in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence algorithms.

Although it was established relatively late, Magic Atom began to engage in the research and development of quadruped robots in August 2020. Its founding team once participated in the research and development of Xiaomi's first-generation robot dog "CyberDog". At the end of 2022, the team entered the humanoid robot field and officially released the first-generation humanoid robot in early 2023. Up to now, its humanoid robot products have been iterated several times.

In addition to the humanoid robot itself, Magic Atom also has the independent research and development and production capacity of upstream core components. Its self-developed joint modules, dexterous hands, reducers, drivers, main controls and other core components are highly matched with the body in function, which can reduce production costs.

"After the self-research and development of core components, we can have better control over key technical indicators. The flexibility and freedom of our humanoid robots will be higher, and the body will be more distinctive and competitive than other competing products," Wu Changzheng, the person in charge of Magic Atom, told 36Kr.

With technology companies entering the game one after another and the iterative upgrade of R & D technology, humanoid robots are moving from the laboratory to real factories and households, and the commercialization is accelerating.

In terms of scene landing, Magic Atom has always been digging into product demands in real application scenarios and is exploring the landing in industrial flexible manufacturing and commercial service scenarios.

On December 2, Magic Atom released a video showing the progress of its humanoid robot MagicBot entering the factory production line for training operations. Multiple MagicBot humanoid robots are on the assembly line, conducting operation training such as product detection, material handling, part grasping, and code scanning, and achieving multi-machine collaboration in some scenarios.

Wu Changzheng said that Magic Atom is building the MagicNet multi-machine collaboration system to achieve the quick deployment and rapid management of multiple humanoid robots and improve the collaboration efficiency. In the factory scenario, MagicNet can collect and organize the environmental perception data of multiple humanoid robots, and realize the sharing of multi-scene maps, and conduct task planning and scheduling with the best production efficiency.

In the commercial service scenario, Magic Atom has deployed MagicBot humanoid robots and quadruped robots in some home appliance retail stores to conduct business service operation training such as greeting and shopping guiding.

2025 is considered by many institutions as the first year of commercial mass production of humanoid robots. Wu Changzheng said that Magic Atom has currently opened up the entire industrial chain of humanoid robots, including independent research and development of core software and hardware, supply chain management and production manufacturing, and scene landing applications, and will achieve large-scale mass production of humanoid robots in 2025.

It is reported that Magic Atom plans to officially release a new generation of MagicBot humanoid robot products in the first quarter of 2025. At the same time, it is expected to deliver hundreds of mass-produced MagicBots in 2025, and the delivery volume will reach the level of thousands in 2026.

With this angel round of financing, the pace of technology research and development, large-scale mass production, and scene landing of Magic Atom is expected to be further accelerated.

Wu Changzheng said that Magic Atom will further strengthen the research and development of core algorithms, improve the efficiency of the supply chain, build the production capacity of the humanoid robot body, and create a stable, reliable, and mature mass-produced humanoid robot product on the basis of achieving cost control.
