Next year will be a significant year for Huawei's Zhixuanche business and its Hongmeng Zhixing.
36Kr has learned and initially calculated that Hongmeng Zhixing is expected to sell more than 10 vehicle models next year, including: Wenjie M5, M7, M8, M9; Xiangjie S9 will add an extended-range power version, and the vehicle models will be divided into the extended version and the station wagon version; Zhijie S7, R7; Zunjie S800 and the second model under the Zunjie brand.
In contrast, only 6 vehicle models are currently on sale this year, including: Wenjie M5, M7, M9; Zhijie S7, R7; Xiangjie S9. This means that the number of vehicle models on sale for Hongmeng Zhixing in 2025 will almost double. "In addition to the new vehicle models, the existing vehicle models will also undergo various degrees of facelifts," an insider revealed.
The Wenjie M8, as a new vehicle model, will be launched in the first half of 2025. An insider told 36Kr that one of the roles of the Wenjie M8 is to compete with the Li Xiang L9.
The outside world believes that the Wenjie M9 and the Li Xiang L9 are in the same positioning. However, in the opinion of some Huawei insiders, the average selling price of the Wenjie M9 is over 500,000 yuan, which is obviously more than 100,000 yuan higher than that of the Li Xiang L9. Therefore, a corresponding product is still needed.
Currently, the Wenjie family has two best-selling vehicle models, the Wenjie M7 with a starting price of 229,800 yuan and the Wenjie M9 with a starting price of 469,800 yuan. The cumulative sales of these two vehicles from January to October this year have approached 300,000 units. However, there is a product gap in the price range of 350,000 to 450,000 yuan between the Wenjie M7 and M9.
In this price range, Li Xiang has sold more than 130,000 units with the Li Xiang L8 and L9. To further increase sales, Wenjie must launch a powerful product in this golden price range.
Can the Wenjie M8 Continue to be a Bestseller?
After the two best-selling vehicle models, the M7 and M9, Huawei has high expectations for the Wenjie M8. An insider told 36Kr that Huawei is more concerned about the competition with Li Xiang Automobile in terms of product experience.
A Huawei employee who is the owner of both the Wenjie M9 and the Li Xiang L9 recently published a several-thousand-word article in the internal community, detailing a comparison of the software and other product experiences of the two vehicles, which has attracted a lot of attention and also drawn the attention of the company's senior management. "Huawei is urgently enhancing the software capabilities of Hongmeng Zhixing."
He Liyang, the president of Seres, also publicly stated, "In the user complaints about the Wenjie M9, we found that it is indeed a bit too intelligent, and many functions are not yet known how to use."
As a best-selling vehicle model, the Wenjie M9 has indeed successfully attracted many traditional luxury car users. However, since traditional luxury cars mainly use physical buttons to control the vehicle, the Wenjie M9, which replaces the buttons with a large-screen intelligent vehicle machine, does have a certain threshold for users to use.
In order to improve this phenomenon, the Li Xiang L9, which has a more convenient vehicle machine operation at the same price range, has become the key research object of Huawei. It can be predicted that the software experience of Hongmeng Zhixing is expected to be significantly improved.
In terms of product strength, the Wenjie M8 is the deployment of the technology and configuration of the high-end vehicle model M9.
The Wenjie M9 is a full-size SUV with a vehicle length of more than 5.2 meters. It can be clearly seen from the exposed test vehicle of the Wenjie M8 that the M8 adopts the same short front overhang design as the M9. Due to the shortening of the length of the vehicle's front cabin, the M8 will have a more spacious cabin space.
The Wenjie M8 also uses the same taillights as the M9. The taillights on both sides can display patterns such as double happiness and lanterns, and have the same light language programming function.
In addition, there is no doubt that the Wenjie M8 will be equipped with Huawei's ADS intelligent driving system. Currently, Huawei's intelligent driving has been iterated to version 3.0, and the system of "parking space to parking space" full-scenario pilot-assisted driving will be launched.
With the positioning competing with the Li Xiang L9, the design close to the high-end vehicle model Wenjie M9, and the industry-leading intelligent driving experience, the Wenjie M8 already has several bestseller elements. Whether it can sell well, the final price and configuration will be the key.
Hongmeng Zhixing in 2025
In 2024, Hongmeng Zhixing has achieved remarkable results.
As of October this year, Hongmeng Zhixing has been established for 32 months, and the cumulative delivery of all vehicle models has reached 500,000 units, setting the fastest delivery record in the industry. Among them, the Wenjie M9 model has also won the sales champion of vehicle models above 500,000 yuan.
Behind the sales volume, intelligent driving has become the core competitiveness of Hongmeng Zhixing. Yu Chengdong once announced that among the orders of the new Wenjie M7, 70% of users chose the intelligent driving version. And the cumulative intelligent driving mileage of these 500,000 vehicle owners has exceeded 930 million kilometers.
In the first quarter of this year, Huawei's intelligent vehicle solution business revenue was 4.7 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 128.1%. Yu Chengdong said that the excellent sales of Hongmeng Zhixing vehicle models have helped Huawei's Zhixuanche business successfully achieve a profit turn-around.
In 2025, Hongmeng Zhixing will continue to chongci.
After the launch of the M8, the four Wenjie vehicle models will comprehensively cover the price range of 200,000 to 500,000 yuan, and the product matrix will continue to be completed. And Wenjie will continue to be the sales main force of Hongmeng Zhixing.
The newly debuted brand Zunjie will launch its first vehicle model, the S800. This is the first time that Hongmeng Zhixing has entered the million-level ultra-luxury market, and the Zunjie S800 bears the heavy responsibility of enhancing the brand style. And Zunjie will also launch its second vehicle model at the end of 2025.
The product planning of Zhijie focuses on being less but refined. Yu Chengdong once revealed that new vehicles are being planned under the Zhijie brand, and it is also expected to launch a new vehicle model in 2025.
In addition, 36Kr has learned that the Xiangjie is yinglai a facelift of the S9 model, which will launch an extended-range version and introduce two facelift vehicle models: the extended version and the wagon. Beyond sedans and SUVs, the product forms of Hongmeng Zhixing have been further enriched, and it is also expected to achieve new achievements in the sedan field.
From sedans to SUVs, from the household price range to the ultra-luxury market, the product boundaries of Hongmeng Zhixing are gradually expanding.
This year, the Wenjie M9 has already surpassed the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE to become the sales champion of vehicle models above 500,000 yuan. With the continuous enrichment of the product map, it is also expected to exert more pressure in the high-end automotive market.
