Anthropic is set to secure $15 billion in financing to build an AI data center in Texas, with Google providing guarantees and supplying chips.

According to reports on July 31, data center developer Nexus Data Centers is in advanced negotiations to raise approximately $15 billion for its AI data center project located in Texas, the United States that serves Anthropic. Google will provide financing guarantees and supply chips for the project. Google has agreed to provide billions of dollars in guarantees for Anthropic's relevant commitments if Anthropic is unable to fulfill its lease and power payment obligations. The guarantee covers four data center lease agreements signed by Anthropic, as well as power purchase agreements related to on-site power plants. In return for its support for the project, Google is expected to obtain an approximately 20% equity stake in the data center and power project. In addition, Anthropic plans to deploy Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chips co-designed by Google and Broadcom in this data center, and the relevant chip procurement will be completed through a separate vendor financing agreement between Anthropic and Broadcom.
