Preliminary work is underway for the Lijin Line of Beijing Subway, and its planning scheme is being steadily finalized.
In the Phase III Construction Plan of Beijing Rail Transit, the Phase III Project of Line 25 (Lijin Line) is a key trunk line in the western part of the city. However, compared with other lines in the Phase III plan, the Lijin Line has seen relatively slow progress.
A few days ago, under the article we published about the southern extension of the Phase II Project of Line 19, many followers left messages asking about the latest status of the Lijin Line, worrying that there might be unexpected changes or even the project being scrapped.
Today, the "Government Inquiry" column of the Beijing Municipal Major Project Office released a reply on the latest development of the Lijin Line. The Municipal Major Project Office stated that the Lijin Line is currently carrying out preliminary work in accordance with relevant national policies, and promoting the stabilization of the planning scheme at the same time, which has reassured citizens who have been concerned about the Lijin Line.
According to the EIA public notice of the Phase III plan released before, the Lijin Line starts at Dongguantou South Station in Fengtai Lize Financial Business District in the south, ends at Lingjing Hutong Station in the Financial Street area of Xicheng District in the north, with a total length of 10.9 kilometers and 8 stations set up.
The Lijin Line connects the two major financial functional zones of Lize Financial Business District and Financial Street. Meanwhile, it is also the Phase III project of Fangshan Line (Line 25). After it is completed and open to traffic in the future, it will most likely be operated in through service with Fangshan Line. At that time, Fangshan Line will also "evolve" into a complete line, making travel for residents in Fangshan much more convenient.
Most sections of the Lijin Line are located in the core urban area, and most of its stations are transfer stations. Dongguantou South Station is currently the terminal station of the northern extension of Fangshan Line, and it is a transfer station for Line 16; Lize Business District Station is a transfer hub for five rail transit lines including the Lijin Line, Line 11, Line 14, Line 16, and the northern extension of Daxing Airport Line; Guang'anmennei Station allows transfer to Line 7; Nanlishilu Station is a transfer station for Line 1; Lingjing Hutong Station is a transfer station for Line 4.
This is a simplified schematic diagram, not the official line planning map. The alignment and station positions shall be subject to the integrated planning scheme released by the official authority.
It is precisely because the line runs underneath the most core area of the city that its construction difficulty is definitely the highest, and its cost is also expected to be one of the highest among all rail transit projects. Therefore, no matter the formulation of the planning scheme or other preliminary work, the whole process will be more prudent than that of ordinary lines.
Nevertheless, relevant departments have been pushing forward the preliminary work as quickly as possible. The reply from the Municipal Major Project Office this time also indicates that the Lijin Line is currently in the stage of advancing preliminary work, and the integrated planning scheme of the line is also being finalized. It is hoped that the final planning scheme can be confirmed and released as soon as possible.
