The planning scheme of the Beijing Subway Line 17 Branch is under preparation, and relevant schemes are in the process of comparison and selection.
Among all the lines in the Phase III Construction Plan of Beijing Rail Transit, the Phase I of Line R6 (Branch Line 17) can be said to be the most widely discussed one. Precisely because it is necessary to solicit opinions from all parties, especially on the alignment and station setting issues, the progress of this line is not the fastest among all projects in the Phase III Plan.
The public is highly concerned about the current progress of this line. However, before this year, the official responses released were relatively general and macroscopic, indicating that relevant departments were studying and promoting the Phase I project of Line R6 in accordance with relevant regulations and requirements. There has been no clear official statement on which stage the project has advanced to and whether the station setting plan has been finalized.
This month, both the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources and Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. made it clear in their respective replies that the Branch Line of Line 17 is under development of the integrated planning scheme for the alignment, and relevant schemes are still in the stage of research, comparison and selection.
According to the Phase III Plan of Beijing Rail Transit, the Phase I of Line R6 (Branch Line 17) starts from the existing Tiantongyuan East Station of Line 17 in the south and ends at Beiqijia Station in the north.
However, there are different disputes over the station setting of this line, mainly the disagreement on setting three stations or two stations, so the scheme of this line has been under research and demonstration.
On the 1st of this month, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources stated in its reply to citizens' inquiries that according to the plan, the Branch Line of Metro Line 17 is designed to provide rail transit services along Qixing Road. The rail transit station setting scheme is formed through comparison and selection based on factors including the rail transit network relationship, the functional positioning of the line, in-depth analysis of surrounding passenger flow demand, train operation organization and engineering implementation difficulty.
At present, Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. is working with the Changping District Government to organize the research and development of the integrated planning scheme for the Branch Line of Metro Line 17, including the station setting scheme, and relevant schemes are still in the stage of research, comparison and selection.
In the next step, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources will also work with the local government to organize Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. to finalize relevant schemes as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, on the "Leaders' Message Board" column of People's Daily Online on the 8th of this month, Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. also stated in its reply to citizens' inquiries that the Branch Line of Line 17 is under the development of the integrated planning scheme, and relevant schemes are still in the stage of research, comparison and selection.
The two departments and institutions have given the same latest reply. It can be seen that the Branch Line of Line 17 has entered the final stage of research and development of the scheme. The official has also clearly stated that relevant schemes will be finalized as soon as possible, so it is speculated that the scheme will be determined in a short period of time.
As for which scheme will be finally selected, two stations or three stations, no relevant information will be released before the integrated planning scheme is finally approved and publicized, which is the clearest official reply caliber available at present.
