Recently, Invest Qatar (Qatar Investment Promotion Agency) jointly hosted a roundtable meeting for Chinese-funded enterprises with the Chinese Enterprises Association in Qatar, inviting representatives of multiple Chinese-funded enterprises operating in Qatar to share business operation experience and discuss deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The participating enterprises cover multiple industries, including major Chinese-funded financial institutions such as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Bank of China, as well as engineering and infrastructure enterprises including China Harbour Engineering, China Railway Construction Corporation and Offshore Oil Engineering. Enterprises from the energy, transportation, aviation and technology sectors such as Yutong Bus, Xiamen Airlines, Kingdee International and Dahua Technology also attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on the continuous support services for enterprises after local settlement, access channels for business information, and how to better meet the operational demands of Chinese-funded enterprises. By collecting direct feedback from enterprises, Invest Qatar hopes to further optimize relevant support measures, help Chinese-funded enterprises expand their business in Qatar, explore new business opportunities and achieve long-term development.
China has always been a key economic cooperation partner of Qatar, and bilateral cooperation covers multiple fields including energy, logistics, manufacturing, technology and financial services. At present, a total of 520 Chinese-funded enterprises are operating in Qatar, which reflects the breadth and depth of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
According to the foreign direct investment project monitoring data of Invest Qatar, over the ten years from 2017 to 2026, China has always been among the top ten sources of foreign direct investment in Qatar, with a total of 59 accumulated investment projects, capital expenditure exceeding 3 billion US dollars, and creating more than 3,200 jobs across multiple industries.
This roundtable meeting highlights the significance of continuous government-enterprise exchanges between China and Qatar. By maintaining close communication with Chinese-funded enterprises in Qatar, Qatar aims to provide more targeted support for Chinese investors, expand the space for bilateral cooperation, and further consolidate Qatar's status as an international commercial investment destination.
