On the afternoon of August 27, Guo Weiwei, the producer of the "Jian Wang 3" series, published a long post on his personal Weibo, announcing that "tomorrow will be my last working day at Seasun".

After all, this "veteran Kingsoft employee" who joined the "Swordsman Love Online 3" project team under Seasun, a subsidiary of Kingsoft Software, right after graduating from university in 2004, has spent a full 22 years at Seasun. In many public discussions, the name Guo Weiwei has become equivalent to an independent IP that is highly tied to Seasun.

After the Weibo post went live, Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Technology and Chairman of Kingsoft Software, reposted the original post and commented: Thank you for your 22 years of persistence and dedication. Wish you all the best, and hope we meet again in the future!

In fact, in the past eight months, Guo Weiwei has gradually withdrawn from Seasun's daily operation and management.

On December 1, 2025, Seasun previously sent an all-staff internal email, announcing that then CEO Guo Weiwei resigned from the CEO post for personal career planning reasons, and transferred to the position of Chief Producer of Seasun, focusing purely on products and content. Zou Tao, CEO of Kingsoft Software and Chairman of Seasun, concurrently served as acting CEO at that time, taking full charge of Seasun's overall operation work.

Today's Weibo post is more like a full stop that marks all related matters have been fully settled.

For Seasun, Guo Weiwei undoubtedly carries the company's historical heritage and core values. Since he joined Seasun in 2004, he has successively served as executive lead designer, lead designer and executive producer of "Jian Wang 3", and officially took the post of producer and design director in 2010. After that, almost all key milestones related to this game are closely connected with him.

When "Jian Wang 3" launched its public beta on August 28, 2009, Guo Weiwei stayed in the Seasun studio at Kingsoft's Zhuhai headquarters, keeping a close eye on players' feedback. When the remastered version launched in November 2017, and the mobile game "Jian Wang 3: Borderless" launched public beta on June 13, 2024, he was always the one standing on the front stage.

With Guo Weiwei's departure, the entire Jian Wang IP will naturally be the first to face the impact.

Over the past 17 years, from PC games to mobile games, from seasonal PVP gameplay to fan creation culture, from official peripherals to the offline "Jian Wang 3 Jianghu Heroes Conference" hosted by players, the Jian Wang IP has formed its own unique set of operation logic, always maintaining a differentiated positioning from other martial arts MMO products. Meanwhile, "Jian Wang 3" was fully built by Guo Weiwei, whose strategies covering operation rhythm, product temperament and community relationship are inevitably highly tied to his personal aesthetic and expression style.

When Guo Weiwei stepped down as CEO in December 2025, the official public explanation was "personal career planning", but the market generally linked the move to another event that happened around the same time: the launch performance of "Mech Buster", a mech competitive FPS game that Seasun had developed for 10 years, fell far short of expectations.

This product, whose producer was also Guo Weiwei, once faced huge public praise pressure with only around 35% positive rating on the Chinese server of Steam during the test period in early 2025. In July 2025, although the global concurrent online players once exceeded 310,000 after the public beta, the overall evaluation from Chinese players was still mostly negative.

For a game manufacturer that has long relied on a single top-tier IP, the simultaneous pressure on both the "old product + new product" lines means the company has to carry out more drastic adjustments in internal resource allocation, new project approval and organizational structure. In the eight months since Zou Tao took over, the online game division of Kingsoft Software also showed fluctuating performance in its latest interim financial report, and the market's expectation for Seasun's strategic adjustment has been amplified for many times.

For Guo Weiwei himself, leaving Seasun may also mean he is looking for new changes. Over the past 22 years, he has turned a martial arts MMO that was not favored at the very beginning into a top domestic IP. However, in the current era when the MMO genre is gradually declining, the name Guo Weiwei is still highly associated with MMO products. "Mech Buster" undoubtedly represented a brand new start for him and Seasun — even though the result of this start is not as satisfactory as expected.

The first time I met Guo Weiwei in person was at Seasun's annual party in Beijing more than 8 years ago. At that time, just as most players imagined, he was full of expectations for the future of "Jian Wang 3" and Seasun.
