36Kr learned that Hangzhou Atomic Matrix Computing Co., Ltd. (MatriQ, hereinafter referred to as "MatriQ") has announced the completion of its Series A+ financing of several hundred million RMB. This round of financing was jointly invested by multiple institutions including Yunfeng Capital, 37 Interactive Entertainment, Puhua Capital, Caitong Capital, Shanghai Semiconductor Industry Investment, Tangxing Capital, Bori Capital, Hechuang Capital, Haibang Investment, etc. The existing shareholder CMB International continued to increase its investment, and the financing lineup covers leading financial investment institutions, industrial capital and state-owned capital.

So far, MatriQ has completed four rounds of financing within one year since it launched the first round of financing in the second half of 2025, with a total accumulated financing of nearly 1 billion RMB.

Founded in 2025, MatriQ is a cutting-edge technology enterprise focusing on full-stack solutions for neutral atom quantum computing, with engineering, productization and commercialization as its core orientation. The company's core team comes from world-renowned scientific research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute, Imperial College London, and the University of Cambridge, and has more than ten years of accumulation in the field of neutral atom technology.

Compared with the dependence of the superconducting route on the ultra-low temperature environment and the natural bottleneck of the ion trap route in scalability, neutral atoms are recognized by the industry as one of the general-purpose quantum computing routes with the greatest large-scale potential, thanks to their physical advantages such as strong scalability, long coherence time, excellent full connectivity and no need for ultra-low temperature environment.

According to 36Kr, MatriQ's core technological breakthroughs are mainly reflected in two dimensions: the rearrangement capability of large-scale programmable atomic arrays and the "storage-entanglement" partition architecture.

In the neutral atom system, due to the collision blocking mechanism, the atomic loading in the optical tweezer array has natural randomness — the initially captured atoms are distributed in a defective state. Before performing quantum simulation or quantum gate operations, the system must move the randomly loaded atoms to the target positions through programmable paths to convert them into an ordered, defect-free atomic array.

At present, MatriQ has realized the construction and stable operation of a defect-free physical qubit array with a maximum of 2310 qubits, and the system can complete the fully automatic process from random atomic loading identification, programmable path planning to target array generation.

From the prototype V1 with 300 physical qubits in 2024, to the 1000-qubit defect-free array in 2025, and then to the breakthrough of 2310 qubits in the first half of 2026, MatriQ's R&D focus has shifted from array scale expansion to the improvement of system stability, maintainability and operation consistency, and its engineering capability has been continuously consolidated.

As for another key technology, the "storage-entanglement" partition architecture, the system is spatially divided into two functional areas: a storage area and an entanglement area: the storage area is responsible for the coherence maintenance of the qubit array, the entanglement area undertakes the two-qubit gate operation, and the cross-functional area scheduling of the atomic array is completed by relying on the movable optical tweezers.

This design can effectively isolate the storage qubits from the entanglement operation area, reduce errors introduced by non-target illumination and gate operations, and at the same time provide underlying motion capability support for mainstream fault-tolerant schemes such as surface codes, which is one of the current cutting-edge directions in the field of international neutral atom quantum computing.

In terms of core technical indicators, the system is based on rubidium-87 atoms, achieving a global single-qubit gate fidelity of over 99.9%, a two-qubit gate fidelity in the entanglement area of over 99.2%, and a SPAM fidelity of over 99.7%. The experimental repetition frequency reaches one experimental cycle per second, supporting quantum gate computing mode, quantum Hamiltonian simulation mode and quantum simulator mode.

On the whole, MatriQ has built a complete product matrix from core hardware to system integration, covering four levels: complete machine, module, cabinet and quantum-supercomputing integration.

At the complete machine level, the "full-stack integrated large-scale neutral atom quantum computer" independently developed by MatriQ made its first offline public appearance at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026).

This system integrates core modules such as vacuum, optics, measurement and control, and heat dissipation. It adopts a fully modular, highly integrated engineering design, gets rid of the deployment restrictions of scattered laboratory equipment, and is designed for long-term stable operation, full-cycle operation and maintenance iteration, and commercial on-site deployment. The significance of this complete machine is that it is a complete, operable and iterable engineering system, rather than a laboratory demonstration of isolated indicators.

It is worth noting that MatriQ is also the only neutral atom quantum computing enterprise in China that has the delivery capability of quantum computing complete machines with a scale of more than 1000 qubits. It has completed the technical finalization of the first commercial product, fully shifted from the technology R&D stage to the market commercialization stage, and the complete machine has obtained customer orders.

At the module level, the company has the independent R&D and delivery capability of core modules such as vacuum systems, optical systems, and measurement and control systems. This modular capability enables all components of the system to be iterated and upgraded independently, and can be flexibly combined according to different deployment scenarios, which fundamentally guarantees the maintainability and scalability of the complete machine system.

At the cabinet level, MatriQ has completed the standardized cabinet integration of the complete machine system, transforming the complex quantum optical experimental device into a transportable, deployable and operable industrial product form, which is a key engineering leap from the laboratory to the commercial environment.

At the quantum-supercomputing integration level, MatriQ is promoting the collaborative exploration of quantum computing and classical supercomputing. During WAIC, the Shanghai Cube Pro quantum-supercomputing hybrid training device co-developed by the company was launched simultaneously, focusing on the exploration of the computing power collaboration between quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

MatriQ told 36Kr that after the completion of this round of financing, MatriQ will continue to invest in three major directions:

In terms of hardware technology, the company will continue to increase investment in the upgrade of complete machine engineering capability and the research of logical qubits, planning to realize the continuous loading of 3000 physical qubits and 30+ logical qubits from 2026 to 2027, reach 8000-10000 physical qubits and 100+ logical qubits from 2027 to 2028, and promote high-speed quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing from 2028 to 2029.

In terms of quantum cloud platform, the company will start the construction of the MatriQ computing power cloud platform, uniformly access the self-developed real machine QPU, gradually open the access entrances of quantum hardware and simulation simulators, lower the usage threshold for external teams, and form a positive cycle of demand feedback and product iteration.

In terms of talent construction, the company will continue to introduce professional talents in the fields of atomic physics, optical engineering, precision manufacturing, electronic measurement and control, quantum algorithms, system software, etc., to provide support for hardware iteration, error correction research and cloud service implementation.
